Dear Mr. & Mrs. Shumaker,
On 5-3-94, our office received a complaint regarding the access road you
constructed in conjunction with your new residence. The complaint indicated
that the road was of fill material within the seasonal wet area and the
construction of the road had blocked a natural drainage path resulting in the
adjacent property being negatively affected. A subsequent complaint was
received on 5-19-94 detailing the same complaint.
A site inspection on 5-12-94 resulted in the determination that a culvert
or drainage system must be installed to allow for the continued "Natural
Drainage Flow" of the drainage area prior to your placement of fill to construct
your road.
It will be necessary for you to correct the problem created by your non-
permitted grading prior to July 15, 1994. Failure to contact this department by
July 15, 1994 will result in legal action.
If you should have any further questions related to Mason County
Regulations regarding the requirement for a Land Modification Permit prior to
commencing fill, excavation or grading or the necessity to provide continued
natural drainage flow, please contact this office between the hours of 8:00am
to 5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
