MEETING MINUTES
Monday,June 17,2013
1. Call to Order—Cmmr.Jeffreys called the meeting to order at 2:04 p.m.
2. Attendance—Randy Neatherlin and Terri Jeffreys were in attendance. Tim Sheldon was absent.
3. Oakland Bay Model Practice presentation—Debbie Riley,Environmental Health,provided an overview of the
PowerPoint presentation that was given at the Washington State Environmental Health Association Annual
Education Conference in May.
4. 2012 Annual Progress Report—Bob Simmons,WSU Extension,presented the annual report. The highlight of
the year was the upgrade of 750 acres of Oakland Bay from Conditionally Approved to Approved. The
Commissioners agreed that the report was ready for release to the public.
5. Comments by Oakland Bay Advisory Committee Members-
Jules Schultz,WA Department of Health,discussed water quality monitoring. He noted that Shelton's
wastewater treatment plant upgrades helped with the upgrade of the 750 acres. There are still issues in
Chapman Cove.
Adam Zimmerman,Craft 3,provided an overview of their lending program for failing septic systems.
Steve Bloomfield,Pacific Shellfish Growers Assoc.,thanked the City of Shelton and Squaxin Tribe for their
contributions to the program.
Diani Taylor,Taylor Shellfish,and Terry Hull,Craft 3,also thanked the Committee for their work. They
appreciated the partnership and looked forward to continued success.
6. Citizen Comments—There were no citizen comments.
7. Adjournment—The meeting adjourned at 3:17 p.m.
