HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015/06/02 - Regular BOARD OF MASON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' PROCEEDINGS June 2, 2015 1. Call to Order—The Chairperson called the regular meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. 2. Pledge of Allegiance— Mr. Andrew Davis led the flag salute. 3. Roll Call — Present: Commissioner District 1 - Randy Neatherlin; Commissioner District 2—Tim Sheldon; Commissioner District 3 —Terri Jeffreys. 4. Correspondence and Organizational Business 4.1 Correspondence 4.1.1 The Trust for Public Land sent correspondence regarding the Conservation Finance Feasibility Study. 4.1.2 Joyce Evans submitted an application for the Mason County Health and Substance Abuse Committee. 4.1.3 The Liquor Control Board submitted marijuana license applications for Little Creek Farm and Celesteva. 5. Open Forum for Citizen Input—There was no citizen input. 6. Adoption of Agenda - Cmmr. Sheldon/Jeffreys moved and seconded to adopt the agenda as published. Motion carried unanimously. N-aye; S-aye;J-aye. 7. Approval of Minutes — May 19, 2015 Skokomish Flood Control Zone Board meeting minutes and April 27, 2015 briefing minutes. Cmmr.Jeffreys/Sheldon moved and seconded to approve the May 19, 2015 Skokomish Flood Control Zone Board meeting minutes and April 27, 2015 briefing minutes. Motion carried unanimously. N-aye; S-aye; 3-aye. 8. Approval of Action Agenda: 8.1 Approval of the Veterans Assistance Fund applications for: Utilities $579.71 as recommended by the Veterans Service Office. 8.2 Approval of Warrants: Claims Clearing Fund Warrant 8023806-8024245 $1,259,145.95 Salary Clearing Fund Warrant 7001064-7001091 $ 438,829,10 Direct Deposit Fund Warrant 22478-22864 $ 626,068.57 For a total of$2,321,043.62 Claims Clearing YTD Total $13,548,887.91 Salary Clearing YTD Total $ 6,658,515.31 Direct Deposit YTD Total $ 6,522,570.58 8.3 Approval of the resolution amending the Veterans Advisory Board Operating Policy as recommended by the Veterans Advisory Board. 8.4 Approval for the Board to authorize the Chair to execute the Cooperative Purchasing Agreement between King County and Mason County; allowing Mason County to use King County's competitively awarded contract for various equipment and supplies. Cmmr. Sheldon asked for Item 8.4 to be removed for a separate vote. Cmmr.Jeffreys/Sheldon moved and seconded to approve items 8.1 through 8.3 with the removal of item 8.4 for a separate vote. Motion carried unanimously® N-aye; S- aye;J-aye � / BOARD OF MASON COUNTY COMMISSIONERSY PROCEEDINGS June 2, 2015 _ PAGE 2 Item 8.4 Approval for the Board to authorize the Chair to execute the Cooperative Purchasing Agreement between King County and Mason County; allowing Mason County to use King County's competitively awarded contract for various equipment and supplies. Melissa McFadden explained that in order to acquire the supplies that are needed for o culvert project scheduled for this summer, Public Works would like to sign a cooperative purchasing agreement with King County. C0rnr. Sheldon said it's great that Mason County can cooperate with other Counties. Cmmmmr. SheQdon/Jeffreysmmoved and seconded to approve item 8.4 to authorize the Chair to execute the Cooperative Purchasing Agreement between King County and Mason County; allowing Mason County to use King Countyiacommpetitively awarded contract for various equipment and supplies. Motion carried unanimously. M8-aye; S-aye;J-aye. 9. 9:30 a.m. Public Hearings and Items Set for a Certain Time—There are no public hearings. 1O. Other Business (Department Heads and Elected Officials) — Cnnmr. Jeffreys introduced the new Director ofVVSU Extension office, Justin Smith, Mr. Smith said he is happy to be here and he is looking forward to developing partnerships and hopefully get people more people involved in the community. He said he will continue to build and maintain the pre-existing programs. He said there is an event this Saturday, June 6, 2015: Oakland Bay Day from 11arn-3pnn located at Bayshona Preserve, 3800 E. State Rt. 3, Shelton, WA 98584 (former site of the 8ayshona Golf Course) and admission isfree. Mr. Smith added that this could would be good way for people to get connected with their community. Cnnmr. Neathar|in introduced Mr. Andrew Davis from The Journal. Andrew Davis is the new reporter for the Journal. Hois from Ohio and heis excited tnstart reporting in Mason County. 11. Board's Reports and Calendar-The Commissioners reported on meetings attended the past week and announced their upcoming weekly meetings. 12.
