• Discussion of ATV use on county roads. If Commissioners want to allow use, an ordinance would
need to be adopted. Would apply to only roads that are posted at 35 MPH or less. Staff
recommendation is to not allow ATV use on county roads, it increases our liability and can be
difficult to enforce. Law allows ATV use on primitive county roads that have not had any motor
vehicle fuel tax used for the road. There is a request for ATV use in the Haven Lake area.
Cmmr. Sheldon could support certain roads, depending on location. Cmmr.Jeffreys pointed out
it has been an issue in Timberlakes. Sheriff Salisbury has talked to surrounding county Sheriffs
and there are arguments for and against allowing ATV use on county roads. There is a lot to
consider and wants to make sure all parties are heard. The Sheriff no longer has an ORV deputy.
Cmmr. Sheldon left the briefing at 10:30 a.m.
