Call to Order—The Chairperson called the regular meeting to order at 9:05 am 2. Pledge of Allegiance —Sheriff Casey Salisbury led the flag salute. 3. Roll Call — Present: Commissioner District 1 - Randy Neatherlin-Absent ; Commissioner District 2— Kevin Shutty; Commissioner District 3—Terri Jeffreys. 4. Correspondence and Organizational Business 4.1 Correspondence 4.1.1 Washington Department of Natural Recourses sent information on a timber harvest located on state trust lands near county property. 4.1.2 State of Washington Recreation and Conservation office sent letter about North Mason Soccer-Football Field Renovation. 4.1.3 Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board sent liquor license application for Skokomish Valley Grange 2202 W. Skokomish Valley Rd. Shelton. 4.1.4 Shelton Health and Recreation Center and South Sound YMCA sent letter about Shelton YMCA Project. 4.2 Public Works bid award information. Sarah Grice announced that Lakeside Industries out of Lacey, Washington won the 2017 overlay project on Arcadia Road in the amount of $1,377,907.46 4.3 Proclamation- Mental Health Awareness Month. Staff: Cmmr. Jeffreys 4.4 News Release- Community Services one day closure. Staff: Dave Windom 4.5 Proclamation- National Correctional Officers and Employees Week. Staff: Chief Kevin Hanson 5. Open Forum for Citizen Input— None 6. Adoption of Agenda - Cmmr. Jeffreys/Shutty moved and seconded to adopt the agenda as published. Motion carried unanimously. N-absent; S-aye;J-aye. 7. Approval of Minutes—April 10, 2017, April 17, 2017 &April 24, 2017 Briefing Minutes, Cmmr. Jeffreys/Shutty moved and seconded to approve the April loth,April 17th, and April 24, 2017 Briefing Minutes. Motion carried unanimously. N-absent; S-aye;J-aye. 8. Approval of Action Agenda: 8.1 Approval to have the chair sign agreement #14-1581 between the County and Recreation and Conservation Funding (RCO) for the North Mason School District Football/Soccer field renovation project. 8.2 Approval of Warrants Claims Clearing Fund Warrant #s 8048006-8048287 $ 632,158.72 Direct Deposit Fund Warrant #s 40227-40621 $ 701,311.64 Salary Clearing Fund Warrant #s 7002718-7002747 $ 511,935.06 Total $ 1,845,405.42 Cmmr. Jeffreys/Shutty moved and seconded to approve action items 8.1 through 8.2. Motion carried unanimously. N-absent; S-aye; J-aye. 9. Other Business (Department Heads and Elected Officials) BOARD OF MASON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' PROCEEDINGS May 2, 2017 - PAGE 2 County Auditor Karen Herr, announced that May15-19th is candidate filing week. She encouraged anybody registered to vote to run, adding that more than 60 positions are open. Sheriff Casey Salisbury announced that crime is down in the south end of the county by 3.8%, while the north end is down 11.21% this year. He then spoke about the active shooter scare at North Mason High School and Hawkins Middle School. He thanked the 105 law enforcement officers from 15 agencies that responded. Sheriff Salisbury then announced that Mason County will participate in the Special Olympics Torch Run for the first time. The torch will be run by various people through Mason County on Thursday, June Vt. Shirts are for sale and the goal is to raise $2017.00 in shirts for special Olympics. The shirts are available through the front office at the Sheriff's office for $20. 10. 9:30 a.m. Public Hearings and Items set for a certain time— No Hearings. 11. Board's Reports and Calendar-The Commissioners reported on meetings attended the past week and announced their upcoming weekly meetings. 12.
