I received the email response to my previous question regarding the use of fill in the building locations. The project requires Special Inspection per IBC Section 1705.6&Table 1705.6. 1 have attached the table of reference to assist you. It is important to ensure all requirements for testing are completed and coordinated with Geotech and structural engineer for the structures. The structural engineer will need to address the fill in details in his plan sets. Please complete the Special Inspection Agreement, all parties are to complete, review and sign the agreement for clarity and understanding of responsibilities. Special Inspection Agreement: https://www.masoncountywa.gov/forms/Community Dev/special-inspection-agreement.pdf The plan pages need to be updated to include a Statement of Special Inspection per Section 1704.2.3, 1704.3 & 1704.3.1. 1 have attached items pulled directly from the Geo Report dated March 14, 2022.These items should be addressed on the plan pages in details and notes. Additionally, I realized today there is two geotechnical reports (November 23, 2021 & March 14, 2022). Please provide a letter from the geologist of record providing clarity regarding validity of one or both reports or what the relationship between the two reports is. As an update I spoke with Scott Ruedy and he will be looking at the grading permit soon, he is currently processing other requirements needed for development at this time.Stormwater is still pending and Kell Rowen is following up on this portion of the review. The plans include stormwater therefore, once I have an approved set of plans I will hold off moving them to be issued until stormwater and planning have been approved. This will ensure no changes are needed before the final set is stamped and approved. It appears that we omitted our typical notes that state earthwork and materials shall conform to the recommendations of the Geotechnical Engineer.See attached for the notes that were intended to be placed on the plans. The Geotechnical Report for the project discusses the requirements/specifications for structural fill and the suitability of the onsite soils for that use. Please let me know if this addresses your concerns or if you have any further questions. Thanks. Gabe Jellison, P.E. I have a question for cross section A-A shown on page S and compared to site plan this area of fill appears to a building pad on fill. I would like to clarify this is the case and what the expectations for fill type, placement method and compaction. I understand this is mass grading however it is a fair amount of material to be addressed. Can you please provide some details for this area of concern. 4 Kind Regards, Tricia Woolett Building Inspector-Plan Review tw@masoncountywa.gov (360)427-9670 ext. 281 PLEASE NOTE: MASON COUNTY HAS A NEW WEB ADDRESS: WWW.MASON 0OUNTYWA.GOV CHANGING EMAIL ADDRESSES ALSO.
