RE: Virginia Baldwin Bank Repair Proposal on Union River
NE 1091 Old Belfair Highway, Belfair, WA.
Dear Ms. Small or Schirato:
I have reviewed the proposed work to provide bank protection to 70 to 75 feet of the left
bank of the Union River using root wads cabled into the bank. I have found the proposal
does not directly affect the water or channel along the river; the work will be above the
bottom of the river channel during the time of the work.
For the reasons of using natural materials and no impacts to the waters of the river, the
proposed work would be exempt from State Environmental Policy Act review and no SEPA
checklist is needed for the project as proposed.
Since the proposal involves work valued at less than $2500 value and not expanding an
existing use, the planned work would be exempt from the requirement of a shoreline
substantial development permit prior to construction.
