January 17, 2014 Jim Scott 681 NE Mission Wood Drive Belfair, WA 98528 RE: Pole Building Inspection at 681 NE Mission Wood Drive Mason County Permit#2013-00112 Mr. Scott, NL Olson prepared engineering for the pole building currently under construction on your property. I understand that you recently had an inspection and there were several items that were suggested to have the engineer review. This letter will address a couple of the items on the inspector's list. The first item I would like to address is the roof sheathing. The roof sheathing was placed with the long direction parallel to the purlins. When the sheathing is oriented in this direction, the plywood spans in the weak direction across the purlins. Because this is an occupancy category 1 structure, the snow loads can be reduced allowing for the roof sheathing to meet minimum strength requirements. It is acceptable for the sheathing to remain. The second item is the wall girts. The wall sheathing was placed against wall girts spaced 48"on center. The plans called for 24"spacing on the wall girts. It is acceptable to install new 2x6 girts to reduce the wall sheathing spans to 24"on center. These new girts will have to be pressure blocked in place at each post, We discussed the other comments from the inspector and you will be able to comply with those requests. I am sending a copy of this letter directly to the building department in support of your permit. Please maintain a copy of this on site with your permit also.
