Dear Ms . Mathes,
On September 8 , 1999, an inspector from this office did a
site investigation at the above location in response to a
complaint filed.
The inspector noted that there were three (3) mobile homes
on site of which two appeared to be occupied. He also stated
that a portion of the complaint involving solid waste issues
should be referred to Andrea Unger of the Environmental Health
Department for further investigation.
Based on file records available for this site, inspection
findings from 9/8/99, Mason County Assessor records files and
previous complaints, it has been determined that the building
department will not be requiring additional permits for the units
which are presently located there at this time .
I want to thank you for contacting me after the posting and
to apologize that you did not receive a call back. Due to being
on emergency leave, I referred your file to a code enforcement
officer who works under my supervision. Because of the fact that
your situation was complex, he was unable to follow standard
process and did not feel comfortable pursuing further action
without consulting me . When I did return back to the office, it
took longer than anticipated for research time to reach a
determination.
In an effort to clarify your records which are on file with
Mason County, and prevent further building enforcement cases
related to these mobile home units, it would be to your benefit
to complete and submit for file records, the enclosed plot plan.
The plot plan should indicate all existing structures and
setbacks as directed. In the event that additional complaints
are received by this department, we will then have that to use as
a resource to compare possible future complaints against .
As a result of the September inspection, one of the units
was noted as being used for storage and another, which appeared
occupied, was posted with a Do Not Occupy Notice . It would be
considered a violation and punishable by law to continue
occupancy of the posted unit .

When Mason County finds deficiencies within or directly
pertaining to manufactured units, a referral is made to the
Department of Labor and Industries, Factory Assembled Structures
Division. We have the authority to post such units unsafe for
occupancy until occupancy approval has been given by that agency,
which is the process we will be following for the unit we did
post on your site .
Please make the necessary arrangements to complete the
enclosed plot plan and return it to me as soon as possible so
that I can update your file records . As I mentioned, I will be
referring the remaining complaints to the Mason County
Environmental Health Department for solid waste and the matter of
the dangerous structure (mobile home) to the Washington State
Department of Labor and Industries, Factory Assembled Structures
division.
