The Department of Ecology(Ecology) reviewed the environmental checklist and has the following comment(s): FLOODPLAINS MANAGEMENT: Donovan Gray(360)407-7253 It appears that the proposed site it partially or entirely within a 100yr floodplain. Work in a 100yr floodplain requires a floodplain development permit. The proponent must ensure that neighboring property owners are kept reasonably safe from flooding. Watercourse alteration notification and maintenance requirements per 44 CFR 60.3 (b)(6) likely apply. Per 44 CFR 60.3(c)(10)the proponent should demonstrate that the proposal will not cause a rise in the base flood elevation of more than one foot considered cumulatively with all other existing and anticipated development. If significant changes to the existing flood regime as shown on the effective Flood Insurance Rate Maps(FIRMs) are expected the proponent must inform FEMA of said changes not later than 6 months from when such information becomes available. This is usually done through the Letter of Map Revision(LOMR)process. A habitat assessment may be required per the FEMA/NMFS Biological Opinion. Salmonids are salmon, trout and chars, e.g. bull trout. For our purposes, "ESA Listed Salmonids" is defined as fish species listed as endangered, threatened or being considered for listing. If ESA listed species are present or ever were present in the watershed where your project will be located, your project has the potential for affecting them, and you need to comply with the ESA.
