Remove (3) existing failing creosote treated timber pilings. The piling(s) will be removed using direct
pull methods unless physically impossible. Direct pull method will incorporate BMPs at all times. Barge
will not be permitted to ground. Work surface on barge shall include a containment basin for the pilings
and any sediments or debris. A floating surface boom will be installed to capture any debris or oil
sheen. Pilings will not be shaken or scraped during the removal process, and will be taken from the site
in a work barge to be properly disposed of at an upland disposal site.
Install (3) 10" galvanized float piling(s). The new piling(s) will be barged to site and driven using an
impact hammer utilizing a bubble curtain and wooden block cushion for sound attenuation (Longmuir
and Lively 2001).

Construction sequence of the piling replacements will be:
1. Remove (3) existing failing creosote treated timber pilings. The piling(s) will be removed using
direct pull methods unless physically impossible. Direct pull method will incorporate BMPs at all

Underhill Piling Replacement Project(SEP2019-00004) located at 422 Cronquist Road in Allyn
as proposed by Tom Underhill. The Department of Ecology(Ecology)reviewed the
environmental checklist and has the following comment(s):

The applicant proposes to remove a structure(s)that contain treated wood. Please refer to
Ecology's publication"Focus on Treated Wood Exclusion," available at:
https://fortress.wa. og_v/ec_�/publications/publications/0304038.pdf, for suggested best
management practices and disposal requirements for treated wood. All removed debris
resulting from this project must be disposed of at an approved site. Contact the local
jurisdictional health department for proper management of these materials.
