BOX 186 5TH AND BIRCH ab '` SHELTON, WASHINGTON 98584 August 4, 1977 Mr. Del Jones Del Jones & Associates 1530 Westlake Avenue North Seattle, Washington 98109 Dear Del: The Mason County planning staff has reviewed the parking standards for the Alderbrook Inn expansion and submits to you the following criteria for numbers of parking spaces and general design criteria: 1. One parking space per guest room. 2. One parking space per each 200 square feet of dining area including bar(s). 3• One parking space per each 200 square feet of meeting space area/meeting rooms. 4. Parking stall dimensions should be a minimum of 10 x 20' and 400 square feet per parking space should be allocated, which would include parking space area, aisle way and landscaping area. (Emphasis should be put on screening of parking area from adjoining properties and the highway). 5. Lighting of parking areas should be accommodated for security and safety reasons. Given the area, indirect ground lighting of walkways in the parking area may be an alternative to aerial lighting. 6. Signing of the New Alderbrook Inn should be subdued and of internal illumination. Sign size should be considered not more than 250 square feet, which is large, but would conform with the criteria for signs located along arterial streets. Consideration of theme parking directional signs may be appropriate. From our estimation, it appears that to accommodate the new guest rooms, dining and meeting areas, that 75 vehicle parking spaces would be necessary. call. I hope this is of assistance to you and if you should have questions, please Si ely, o e so MKA:ve Principal Planner I
