Re: Mason Count Shoreline Variance y riance Permit 7#147

The Department of Ecology has reviewed the above referenced permit
to construct a 12' x 90' deck extension from an existing bulkhead
at the Alderbrook Inn on Hood Canal near Union.
The proposed deck, an accessory to the newly constructed pool on
the site, will extend further waterward than any existing develop-
ment in the vicinity. We find the project inconsistent with the
master program and criteria for granting a variance and hereby deny
the permit.
The Shorelines Management Act of 1971 provides that a request for
review before the Shorelines Hearings Board may be filed within
thirty days from the transmittal date of this denial . Guidelines
for filing of a request for review are enclosed.
