Seattle, Washington 98134 ) -•i - Gentlemen: In 1913 rip rap was placed along the shoreline in front of Alderbrook Inn to protect a large fir tree, barbecue pit, lawn, patio, and Iran building. Through the years, rip rap, soil, grass and foundations of the Inn, have erroded and undermined these facilities to the extent that permanent damage and loss has and will continue to result unless a low protection wall approx- imately 3 1/2 feet high is constructed for protection against the winter high tides and waves. Emergency action is necessary. The work will consist of a low concrete wall approximately 3 feet high at the west end and approximately 4 feet high at the east end, approximately 515 feet long, and located approximately 4 feet outside the existing facilities which is approximately at the 11 foot tide elevation. The protection wall will resemble in appearance and function the protection walls on the adjoining Alderbrook property and the neighboring properties. I understand that the maintenance of existing facilities such as these does not require a permit. May I please have confirmation of that fact. i hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience because protection should be commenced as soon as possible. Cordially, Wesley M.
