RE: Swim Advisory Posted at Belfair State Park and Twanoh State Park
Mason County Public Health & Human Services warns visitors not to swim at Belfair State
Park and Twanoh State Park after receiving sample results with high enterococci bacteria.
Warning signs have been posted at both state parks near swim area entrances. While the
beaches are not closed until confirmation sampling is performed, health officials
recommend people and pets stay out of the water.
Environmental Health staff are working on identifying possible pollution sources. The
advisory against swimming will remain in effect until sample results show that bacteria
levels have returned to acceptable ranges.
