Encl.) Dear John & Norma; The undersigned Geo-technical Engineer, along with the owner, visited the subject site on April 11th, for a final walk-over soils reconnaissance. The site was investig- ated to determine the stability requirements for the proper siting of a proposed house and to determine foundation requirements for the stability of the proposed house. We found a fairly level upper portion of the lot with a bank on the North sloping down at 120 as measured by Smart Level readings. The lot was timbered on the slope with tree cover of medium and large evergreen trees and an understory of brushy plants. Trees and brush have been removed to a sandy-gravel soil. The soil is a glacial till; gravel with sand. Photographs were taken for our files. The enclosed siting of the house with a setback of 92 feet from the top-of-slope will not require special foundations. The plans submitted for a permit are for a full concrete basement. A review of the literature for a background on geology and slope stability revealed no previous landslides in the near vicinity of the lot(within one mile) . The lot is in a zone listed as I (Intermediate Stable) . Roof drains from the house should be carried in a closed conduit to discharge downslope into an energy dissipator or infiltration pit. In my professional opinion the proposed siting, enclosed herein, should provide a stable site for the proposed house. Yours truly, tof w yZL Rolla B. Boug P. E.
