Kelly McAboy - Gannon Site Visit

Hi Dartagnan,
The site visit went well today. The stakes you set out were a little farther back then I had envisioned them being,
so Rick Miraz from Ecology helped me set them at the appropriate OHWL(more waterward). We discussed the
Gannon's options, and emphasized softshore such as wood, plantings, beach nourishment as a possible
alternative so they do not end up with such a drastic drop from a high bulkhead.Augusta is very concerned
about erosion of the soils right at the ornamental plantings, which Frank mentioned retaining walls as an option.
Another option is putting in retaining walls, similar to planting beds and then getting an HPA to replace the stairs
and walking ramp.
Because it is a surf smelt beach, bringing the face of the bulkhead waterward of OHWL would definitely require
more mitigation, such as a beach nourishment contract that would last the life of the bulkhead.
Augusta wanted time to think about the options, so I told Frank to contact us when they are ready to proceed.
Give me a call next week if you want to discuss further.
Have a good weekend!
