Hi Meg,
We need the setback of the structure from the State Highway ROW. You have indicated that the PRF is 15'
from the ROW, correct? You can contact WSDOT for the exact location of the ROW if you unsure that this is
where it is located.I think a contact person there is Larry Deemer at (360)874-3052.
The minimum setback for structures from the ROW is 25'. We can allow an administrative variance down to 10'
from the ROW if it meets the administrative variance criteria. If the project is less than 10' from ROW. a
Development Regulation Variance will be required. That is a public hearing process before the Hearing
Examiner. The Variance could be combined with the shoreline permit request for the PRF.
Does that answer your question?

Hello Grace,
Would you mind taking a look at this site plan.We have a client who is proposing a structure that will fall
within the ROW.We are planning a site visit this week. Can you advise as to what measurements would be
needed
for the County to determine what type of permit would be required?
Thanks,
Meg

Ms. Amos,
I can only address the setback question. The setback is measured from the edge of the recorded right a
way is 25 ft.The pavement is not necessarily the edge of the right a way.
In terms of the stairs, we would need more information to answer what is required for permit. A cross
section of the proposal would help us answer this question.

Hello Tricia,
What is the set back from the highway ROW for the beginning of a pier. What permits are needed if
they want to build steps down the riprap to get to the pier.
Thanks,
Meg
