I'm not sure why we do it that way, but it's written into the definitions for the Resource Ordinance chapter(8,52.030): "Mason Environmental Permit(MEP)" means a county permit required for any proposed development or use in an area designated by this chapter as a critical area or resource land, where the proposed development or use is listed as a permit required use in one or more designated critical areas or resource Lands.Such permits shall, when possible, be processed concurrently with other county permits, and are designed to minimize any additional steps or staff time.Where an MEP is required by this chapter, the proposal is within shorelinejurisdiction, and a shoreline permit or exemption is not required by the shoreline master program, a shoreline exemption shall be required rather than an MEP. Could you reach out to the applicant and ask for a shoreline exemption permit application and cancel the MEP? The HMP can be uploaded as an additional submittal with the shoreline exemption permit. The reviewfees should be$300 for the SHX permit review and $300 for HMP review for single family residences equaling$600. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions!
