Exemption from Shoreline Management Act
Case No.: SHX2017-00063 Substantial Development Permit Requirement
The Proposal By: GREGORY HATTON
19410 NW 30TH AVE
RIDGEFIELD, WA 98642
Parcel Number: 322355201002
Site Address: 143 E MERRIMOUNT RD UNION
To undertake the following development.-
(SEE BLD2017-01132) "After the fact" repair and maintenance of existing bulkhead. Other work
includes replacement of beach access stairs; incorporating a decking storm water infiltration trench;
remove & replace safety railing on 3 sides of bulkhead; remove & replace fencing and a gate on one side
of bulkhead; demolition of a pre-existing water front legal non-conforming shed and subsequent
relocation of newly built non-conforming replacement water front storage shed (2017 enforcement case)
to the parcel across the street (SR 106) and build yet another legal non-conforming replacement shed
(same for same in terms of size, dimensions, height, and size) as the original shed that was demolished.
Note: the first attempted shed replacement was larger and closer to the shoreline than the original shed,
therefore it had to be torn down or relocated elsewhere via code enforcement. The proponent opted to
relocate the replacement shed to a parcel across the street under common ownership and build another
shed to replace the original shed on the water front parcel identical in size, dimensions, height and
placement.
Within HOOD CANAL and/or its associated wetlands is exempt from the requirement of substantial
development because the development is categorized under WAC 173-27-040(2) as being category:
2(L) /1orrn,,I Y(pair Ma inJ-o. nce .
Please contact Ron Buckholt at ext 287 if you have any questions.
