Medication storage shall be in the control of the boarding home and requires medication storage for each resident to be physically separated from other resident's medications, separate from food or toxic chemicals, in a locked compartment that is accessible only to designated responsible staff people,and in environments recommended on the medication label such as refrigeration if required. Clean utility and medication storage can be in the same room provided there is a handwash sink and separation of meds from clean and sterile nursing supplies and equipment. Room shall have positive pressure relationship to adjacent rooms or areas. WAC Chapter 388-78A-2260 and WAC 388-78A-2920(2)(a) 8 O Provide revised floor plan showing the location of the clean utility room, that is separate from soiled, laundry or dirty rooms, used for the purposes of storing and preparing clean and sterile nursing supplies, equipped with a work counter or table, a handwashing sink, with soap and paper towels or other approved hand-drying device, and locked medication storage, if medications are stored in this area, that is separate from all other stored items. Room shall have positive pressure relationship to adjacent rooms or areas. WAC 388-78A-2920(2)(a) 9 0 Provide a revised floor plan showing the location of the soiled utility room, that is separate from clean/med or clean rooms, equipped with a two compartment sink for handwashing and equipment cleaning and sanitizing,a clinical service sink or equivalent for rinsing and disposing of waste material, soap and paper towels or other approved hand-frying device and locked storage for cleaning supplies. WAC 388-78A-3010(1)(i) 13 El The plans show 14 resident rooms and the application indicates 16 residents. Show on revised floor plan the location of which rooms will be double occupancy. Double occupancy rooms require 140 square feet of useable floor space. WAC 388-78A- 3010(l)(b) Approved 12/28/06—Based on functional program indicating the wing with the four rooms are to be double occupancy and the wing with the eight rooms are to be single occupancy for a total of sixteen (16) beds of proper size. 14 ® All toilet rooms are to have adequate ventilation to the outside by mechanical ventilation. WAC 388-78A-3030(2)(e) 15 El The boarding home must ensure fifty percent of all the bathing fixtures in the boarding home are roll-in type showers that have a one-half inch or less threshold, a minimum size of thirty-six inches by forty-eight inches, and single lever faucets located within thirty-six inches of the seat so the faucets are within reach of person seated in the shower. WAC 388-78A-3030(8) 16 © The intercom system must be equipped with a mechanism that allows a resident to control whether or not announcements are broadcast into the resident's room, and whether or not voices or conversations within the resident's room can be monitored or listened to by persons outside the resident's room.
