The Mason County Commissioners have approved the Variance Request for
the John Coker property regarding the sideyard setback ( information
enclosed) . The approval was granted at their regular scheduled meeting on
September 1, 1988.
The information you presented will be filed with the Building Permit for
future reference. Thank you for your cooperation with the Building
Department regarding this matter.

STRUCTURE PROPERTY SETBACKS
Chapter 14.08.180 of Mason County Code
Building setback fran property lines, right-of-way, or the closest
projection shall be five (5) feet to said line.
A variance may be granted to said line if a hardship can be shown and
the adjacent property owner has no objection and is willing to incumber the
deed to his/her property and to be recorded with the Auditor of Mason
County a written statement on his property deed as follows:

On this date, I called Mason County Regional Planning Council
and talked to Wendy regarding expiration dates for various per-
mits . She stated the Shoreline Various Permit expires 2 years
from date of approval (September 12, 1983) and can be extended
one ( 1) additional year with approval from County Commissioners .
A Building Permit is good for 6 months prior to construction.

received by this office on August 18, 1983 The review period
by the Department of Ecology and the Attorney General 's Office will
terminate thirty (30) days from the above date of receipt.
Notice of approval or denial will be forwarded prior to expiration of
the review period. If approval is granted, construction pursuant to
the permit may then commence thirty days from the date of the notice of
approval , provided that all other federal , state, and local laws regu-
lating such construction have been complied with.

Re: Shoreline Variance Permit #590-14-1971 0339)
Harold E. Dalke - Applicant
The Department of Ecology has reviewed the above referenced variance permit
to construct a single-family residence set back 8 feet landward of an existing
bulkhead on Hood Canal near Union.
We concur that the proposal meets the master program and WAC 173-14-150
criteria for granting a variance. The permit is hereby approved.
This approval is given pursuant to requirements of the Shoreline Management
Act of 1971. Other federal, state or local approvals may be required.
Construction is not authorized until thirty days from the transmittal date of
this approval letter and enclosed permit or until conclusion of any review pro-
ceeding initiated within the thirty-day period.
