Dear Board of Trustees,
Our office received a letter dated December 18, 2014 regarding the occupancy of a residence at 51 E
Marine View Dr,Allyn. It is my understanding your concern is in regard to the intended use of the
structure as a single family dwelling.
Section 17.11.720 of Mason County Code, lists both Single Family Dwelling and Duplexes and
Multifamily Dwellings including Condominiums. If you refer to section 17.06 Definitions you will find
the definition of a Single Family Dwelling as; a detached building containing one dwelling unit. There is
not a definition of a dwelling unit in the Development regulations(MCC Title 17). Using a common
reference for development regulation definitions would be The Latest Illustrated Book of Development
Definition by Harvey S. Moskowitz and Carl G. Lindbloom, it defines a dwelling as; a structure or
portion thereof that is used exclusively for human habitation.
Based on these definitions, I do not see a violation. If you feel there is more information or circumstances

Subject: Violation of Allyn Zoning Code 17.11.720
Dear Members of the Planning Department,
This office, the Lakeland Village Community Center, has become aware of a violation of the Allyn Zoning
Code, 17.11,720, Allowed Uses. The property at 51 E Marine View Drive, Allyn, WA 98524, is zoned for
Single Family Dwellings and Duplexes and multi-family dwellings including condominiums.
The violation began in Summer/ Fall 2013, in that unrelated persons were living at that address, which is
clearly a Single Family dwelling. At that time, the following persons were living there: Don and Debbie
Lindgren, the homeowners, and four other people.
In Spring, 2014, the persons living there were Don and Debbie Lindgren and five unrelated persons.
Don Lindgren died on 11 Sep 2014, In Fall, 2014, the persons living there were Debbie Lindgren and
three other unrelated persons.
This situation is clearly in violation of the allowed uses code, and we urge you to take the appropriate
action.
