Commissioner Glenn Carlson:
On Friday June 27, 2014, I made a site inspection to south of 5061 E Grapeview Loop Rd.
(Parcel Nos. -12105-51-66001 and old road right-of-way to the west) to examine trees near the
wetland and the Port of Grapeview boat parking areas. I met Commissioner Glenn Carlson to
discuss the removal of a few trees (four red cedar and one douglas fir) and the limbing up of
several trees in the vicinity of the wetland and parking area on the property. I understand the
scope of the removal and limb trimming of these trees to reduce potential danger to property
and persons on these parcels. Please consider reducing the height of one red cedar tree (to 12
feet tall) that is currently being used by the Pileated Woodpeckers nearby to the wetland. You
may also consider replacing those trees with younger red cedar and pines in the immediate
area of tree removal.
You may proceed with your proposed danger tree removal and limb trimming as observed on
this parcel per Mason County Resource Ordinance standards.

Subject: Tree removal near wet land area
Dear Mr. Borden,
I spoke with you this morning concerning removing five trees near a wet area on the Port of
Grapeview property. This area is in our boat trailer parking lot.
We commissioners consider these trees diseased and a danger to the patrons of the parking lot. I
would like to request a site visit to obtain an opinion from the Community Development Department
