The geotechnical assessment prepared for the proposed Harmony Hill caretaker residence at 7362
li E. SR 106 Union has been received and reviewed by Public Works.
The report conforms to standards of sound engineering principles and practices and conforms to
the requirement of DCD for geotechnical assessment reporting.
The design of the proposed structure's retaining walls is based on smaller bearing values than
recommended in the assessment, so their design is conservative, and well within the
recommendations made in the report for bearing values.

I contacted MC2 regarding the dead weight of the roofing material. The plans indicate that a
synthetic slate roof will be used. I've discussed this with MC2 `s engineer who conducted the
analysis to make sure this had been considered in their design. I was informed that the proposed
synthetic roof shale is relatively light, constructed of a plastic or polymer with a weight similar to
that of 3 tab shingles. The roof dead weight was figured on a double roof material weight, so I
feel this issue has been adequately considered.
