HomeMy WebLinkAboutFire Protection Plan - FIR Permit / Conditions - 6/13/2002 06/13/2002 11:59 FAX 3604279438 SHELTON FIRE Z 02 FIRE PROTECTION PLAN FOR HARMONY HILL WELLNESS CENTER EMERGENCY VEHICLE ACCESS Intent is to provide for emergency vehicle access (fire engine or v ater tender) to within '160 feet of any portion of the exterior walls of t e following buildings: BLDG. C, D, K, E, H, G, F, I, L, M, Q The Mason County Fire Code requires a 20 foot wide access road. The applicant was advised to work towards achieving that width forte road system serving the major building core(s), as identified on the attached site plan. Mason County FD 6 will conduct some on-site surveys to evaluat' the access. FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS I The following buildings are to have automatic fire alarm systems �nstalled to Mason County standards: i BLDG. C, D, K, E, H, G, F, I, L, M, Q A copy of Mason County Standards for Fire Alarm Systems is attached. It is recommended that a location be established for a single fire alarm panel that would collect and transmit fire alarm signals for all buildings IThis panel should be installed in the first building to be constructed. i A Fire Alarm System Performance Standard sheet is also attached. 06/13/2002 11:59 FAX 3604279438 SHELTON FIRE fj03 I COMMERCIAL COOKING SYSTEMS Any commercial range is required to be protected by a Class I Ho d and fire suppression system. The suppression system is to be connected to the site fire alarm system and transmitted as a separate zone. A copy of the Mason County Standards for Fixed Fire Suppression Systems is attached. BUILDING IDENTIFIERS To aid in identification by emergency responders, each occupied building should have a visual identifier; i.e., a number or letter, that is visible from the primary access road. It is understood that this visual designation Beds to fit the esthetics of the campus concept. PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS Each occupied building is required to have one portable fire extinguisher at each exit door. Specific locations will be noted on construction pi ns. LIGHTED EXIT SIGNS AND EMERGENCY LIGHTS I Buildings with occupant loads over 50 and buildings where peopl are sleeping (except the small 8x10 cottages and the single-family re$idence) will be require to have lighted exit signs and emergency lights. Specific locations will be noted on construction plans. KNOX BOX EMERGENCY KEY BOX A KNOX BOX emergency key box will be required if requested by FD 6. Contact FD 6 for details. Fire alarm installation must comply with NFPA 72 and must me t all appropriate ADA requirements. 2. Provide a single fire alarm control panel with sufficient capacit to monitor and transmit fire alarm signals from multiple buildings and multiple zones within some buildings. 3. A site annunciator with LED readouts is required at a readily accessible location that will provide a visual representation of the alarm or tr uble signal location. 4. A 10 inch bell and white strobe light is to be installed on each uilding at a location facing the primary fire department access point. P occupied o i 5. Smoke alarms are requiredP in all spaces and exit c rri ors. Rate of rise or fixed temperature heat detectors are required in all areas where smoke alarms are not suitable, including attics, restrooms, and storage and mechanical rooms. A smoke alarm is required to protect the fire al rm panel. r 6. System is to monitor a fixed fire suppression system in a com ercial kitchen hood. SYSTEM OPERATION 1 . All defined zones are to be transmitted to an approve central re eivin PP � 9 station. A list of UL Central Receiving Stations approved for monitoring fire alarm systems in Mason County is included in the Mason County ire Alarm Standards document. harmonyTdoe
