Success monitoring is required per Mason County's Critical Areas Ordinance Chapter 17.01 to ensure success of installed restoration projects. The original restoration and/or mitigation plan(Plan)was required to offset impacts to the following resource/s: • Category II Wetland 1.1 LOCATION The project site is located at: • Address: 30 N Deer Ln.E,Hoodsport,WA 98548 • County/Parcel: Mason/422055000052 A regional/vicinity map is included within the Attachments. 1.2 KEY PROJECT BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Key project background data is summarized below: Dominant land modification action/s included: Construction of cabin/shed and associated utilities. Is this an After—The—Fact environmental permit? YES/NO YES (i.e.were resources impacted prior to permitapproval?) Project site modifications occurred on or about(season/year): Summer/2004 Plan prepared month/year): October/2004 Number of monitoring ears required by Plan: 3-years/seasons First monitoring season/ ear): Fall/2005 Anticipated final monitoring year(assuming annual standards met): 2007 Has monitoring period been extended(Yes/No): No • If Yes,current anticipated final monitoring year: N/A 2.0 PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND/OR OBJECTIVES Project performance standards include the following: • Plant restoration/mitigation area(s)with native trees,shrubs,and herbaceous perennials at the following average densities per 1,000 square feet: o Trees: 10 o Shrubs: 40 o Groundcover: III • Achieve a minimum 80%thriving/vigorous growth of installed plants; • Achieve a minimum 80%vegetative cover by native species(may include volunteer or existing plants);and • Achieve 100%eradication of non-native,noxious,and dominant species. Project objectives include the following: • Restore/enhance 196 ft.Z of disturbed buffer with native vegetation; • Other special habitat features/measures(if any):N/A • Buffer fence/"Streamside Buffer Boundary"Signs(if specified):N/A • Specified revegetation species, size/condition,and densities are restated in the table below. It is important to note/ understand that differences commonly exist between initial estimates of required plant numbers and actual field fitting to encountered site conditions.Differences typically arise from: o Generalized initial estimates of project impact area; o On-site discovered credit for retained,salvaged,or"volunteer"native plants. Monitoring data was collected and summarized on field data sheets.Completed data sheets appear/s as Attachments. 4.0 CURRENT YEAR MONTORING RESULTS In summary we offer the following observations: • Monitoring Date: September 19'",2007 • Plant HealthNigor: High. 84%of plantings are thriving. • Plant species diversity: High • Erosion control: Moderate • Weed control: Moderate • Herbivore protection devices installed(Yes/No): No • Herbivore damage: Low • Ongoing Maintenance and/or corrective measures required:N/A,monitoring is completed at this time and plants should be able to function naturally from this point forward. 5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND NEXT STEPS Performance standards are currently met or exceeded;the monitoring requirements for this restoration project have been fulfilled. We recommend the following next steps: • Submit a copy of this final monitoring report to Mason County.
