THE PROJECT INVOLVES MINING SAND AND GRAVEL ON A 41.18 ACRE SITE. ECONOMIC
CLIMATE WILL DICTATE THE LIFE OF THE MINE. THE PROJECTED LIFE OF THE MINE IS
14 YEARS. MINING WILL BE CONTINUOUS AND RECLAMATION WILL OCCUR ON A
ANNUAL BASIS IN THE MINED AREA.

THE MINE SITE WILL ALSO BE UTILIZED AS WOOD WASTE RECYCLING AREA.

THE PROJECT INVOLVES MILTING SAND AND GRAVEL FROM THE 40 ACRE SITE LOCATED
APPROXIMATELY 2.5 MILES NORTH OF BELFAIR ON THE OLD BELFAIR HIGHWAY. THE
SITE IS AN EXISTING SAND AND GRAVEL PIT AND THE MINING PERMIT IS FOR THE
CONTINUATION OF THE MINING ACTIVITY. THE M%aNG OPERATION IS PROJECTED TO
TAKE 14 YEARS UNTIL THE SITE IS EXHAUSTED. A RECLAMATION PLAN IS PROPOSED
WHICH WILL ALLOW FOR THE CONTINUOUS RESTORATION.
DURING THE ACTIVE LIFE OF THE MINE, APPROXIMATELY 5 ACRES OF THE SITE WILL
BE UTILIZED AS A REPOSITORY FOR STUMPS AND BRUSH FROM THE LOCAL AREA
WHICH WILL BE GROUND AND UTILIZED IN THE CREATION OF A BLENDED TOPSOIL
MIX. THE TOPSOIL WILL BE SOLD AS A COMMODITY SINIILAR TO THE SAND GRAVEL.
SOME OF THE MIX WILL BE UTILIZED IN THE RECLAMATION PROCESS.

FACILITIES FOR HANDLING RUNOFF FROM
PRECIPITATION FALLING ON THE MINE SITE.
THE STORM WATER SYSTEM CONSIST OF A
SERIES OF PONDS AND BERMS LOCATED ON
THE VARIOUS TERRACES WITHIN THE MINE.
THE SYSTEM IS INTENDED TO CAPTURE
RUNOFF AND DISCHARGE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE N.P.D.E.E.S. PERMIT AND THE WDNR
MINING PERMIT.
2. Air

A CLASS III STREAM LIES FLOWS ALONG THE
WEST LINE OF THE SITE. THE STREAM HAS A
STEEP GRADIENT. THE STREAM IS UNNAMED.
THE STREAM IS TRIBUTARY TO THE UNION
RIVER WHICH FLOWS INTO HOOD CANAL.
2. Will the project require any work over, in, or
adjacent to (within 200 feet) the described waters? If
yes, please attach available plans.
NO, THE MINE WILL MAINTAIN THE 65' BUFFER
(MASON COUNTY) AWAY FROM THE STREAM.
A EARTH RIDGE DEFINING THE DRAINAGE
BASINS WILL BE MAINTAINED SO ITS VERY
UNLIKELY RUNOFF FROM THE MINE CAN
REACH THE STREAM.

SET UP TO RECLAIM PROCESS WATER WHICH IS
CLEANED AND REUSED AGAIN IN THE WASH
OPERATION.

PIT AND SIZE UNKNOWN.

DURING THE ACTIVE MINING OF THE SITE
RAINFALL FALLING ON THE MINE SITE WILL BE
ROUTED THRU EXISTING STORM WATER
FACILITIES. THE STORM WATER SYSTEM
CONSIST OF A SERIES OF PONDS AND BERMS
LOCATED ON THE VARIOUS TERRACES WITHIN
THE MINE.
THE MAJORITY OF THE WATER ENDS UP IN A
POND AT THE SOUTH EAST CORNER OF THE
SITE WHERE IT IS PUMPED BACK UP THE HILL
SPRAYED ON UPPER AREAS OF THE MINE. IT
THEN ENTERS A FRENCH DRAIN AND IS
DISCHARGED TO A RAVINE TO THE SOUTH
WHICH DRAINS TO THE UNNAMED CLASS III
STREAM.
THE NORTH EASTERLY PORTION OF THE MINE
DRAINS TO A RAVINE ON THE EAST LINE OF
THE SITE. WHEN ACTIVE MINING OCCURS IN
THIS AREA A DETENTION AND WATER QUALITY
FACILITY WILL BE IMPLEMENTED.
WHEN THE MINE SITE IS EXHAUSTED AND THE
SITE RECLAIMED STORMWATER FROM THE
ENTIRE MINE SITE WILL BE ROUTED TO THE
POND IN THE SOUTH EAST CORNER. THE POND
WILL INCORPORATE A DETENTION AND WATER
QUALITY FACILITY. THE POND DISCHARGES
TO A DITCH WHICH ULTIMATELY REACHES THE
UNION RIVER.
SOME OF THE STORM WATER COLLECTED
ONSITE IS USED IN THE CRUSHING AND
WASHING OPERATIONS.
