RE: GARAGE LOCATION PROJECT: XXX E.STEVENS PLACE ALLYN,WASHINGTON ?-6 C6 ( PARCEL#: 12220-34-90363 09/192015 Dear Lynette Payson: At the request of Dawn Miles of Town and County Post Frame Buildings, Lynnwood, Washington, Curtis D Cushman L.E.G. visited the above property to inspect the location and suitability of a pad for a proposed pole-type garage on a concrete slab built on a thick gravel pad. The primary purpose of the visit and concomitant literature search was to verify the validity of the May 2010 Slope Assessment made by Wesley R. Johnson, P.E., of N.L. Olson and Associates, Port Orchard, Washington. The update was requested by Allen Borden, Mason County Planner, in an email dated September 4, 2015. Cushman was escorted on site by the brother of Lynette Payson. GENERAL The original assessment was for an addition to a pre-existing residence located in Plot B, PN# 12220-34- 090362. The proposed 12' X 27' addition has been built. The proposed garage is located approximately 80 feet due west of this addition on a gravel pad that is in place. Inspection of the exposed geology shows the deposits to be glacial in nature, such as Qgt, glacial till. There is no evidence of nearby slides or slumping and the CZAW map (Ma_12ith) shows this site to be S for stable. The site was not excavated; a cut less than four feet high is at the west side of the pad. It is below an old road and is vegetated, so it is not recent. No native vegetation outside of grass will be disturbed by construction. OBSERVATIONS Observation of the site is in accordance with the original slope assessment of 2010. Satellite images from Google Maps show the garage site to have been a flat terrace with grass and scrub. The other observations AAG15-036 8947 Buttonwood Lane NE, Olympia, WA 98516 1 Phone#: (360)481-6677 or(360)491-5155 TGir_ \Tr.I►.zilr'tvf 'J7'j''rl%filr,Tr ilfrc, . and conclusions are validated by this review. The distance of the garage from the original location in no way invalidates the observations and reasoning of the original assessment. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS As the original assessment appears valid and nothing other than gravel placement has been done, the pad and building site should be accepted for the stated purpose of a pole-type garage on a concrete slab. As there is to be no plumbing, the only concern is drainage, and that is addressed by the Site Plan from Town and Country. It is recommended the project proceed as proposed.
