FEATURES MH14328(S) • Provide secondary power for control panels. • Gelled electrolyte. • Sealed and maintenance-free. • Overcharge protected. • Extended shelf fife. • Easy handling with leakproof construction. • Ruggedly constructed, high-impact ABS plastic case. • Long service life. SEALED RECHARGEABLE • Compact design. F BATTERY CAPACITY _p WAVC Battery capacity, expressed in ampere-hours(AH),is the product of Model PS-6e6 6 volt a 6 AN a discharge current and the length of time that the current is dis- Power-so"" corporation charged. Batteries are rated according to their performance during 20 hours of discharge at a constant current. The rated capacity of a battery is determined by subjecting it to a constant discharge current for 20 hours at 68°F (20°C). After 20 hours the voltage across the terminals is measured. The discharge current which causes a reading of 1.72 volts per cell(5.16 V on a 6 V battery and 10.32 V on a 12 V battery)is called the rated current. This current multiplied by 20 is the rated capacity of the battery. APPLICATIONS Ahki, The PS-695 Battery Use the PS Series batteries to provide backup power for control panels. Select batteries based on current requirements for your system and the capacity of its charger. These batteries can be used over a temperature range of-76°F to+140eF (-60°C to+60°C). CONSTRUCTION The sealed construction of the Power-Sonic battery allows trouble- free, safe operation in any position. There is no need to add elec- trolyte, as gases generated during overcharge are recombined in a unique"Oxygen Cycle." The battery is sealed, leakproof, and main- tenance-free. The case is made of ABS,a high-impact plastic resin (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer)with high resistance to chemicals and flammability. INSTALLATION All panels have space reserved for batteries. See the appropriate panel installation manual for battery size restrictions. Typical inter- Ilk connection diagrams are shown in the literature accompanying each control panel. The PS-1242 Battery This document Is not Intended to be used for installation purposes. Those horn-only models with "HC"In their part numbers will also operate on a coded power supply. The horn and hom/strobe series includes weatherproof models. Strobes - The ADA-compliant SpectrAlert strobes are elec- tronic visible waming signals that flash at 1 Hz over their operating voltage range. These products are available in 24-volt models at 15, 15175,75 and 110 candela intensities and in 12-volt models at 15 and 15f75 candela intensities. The strobe series includes weath- erproof models. SpectrAlert products feature dramatic reductions in current requirements. Sync•Circuit Module(MOL)-The Sync-Circuit Module is available for synchronization of strobes and homs and can syn- chronize two Style Y (class B) circuits or one Style Z (class A) circuit. The module can also generate a synchronized temp 3 tone for System Sensor's Multi-AlertTM and PA400 horn products.' The synchronization module allows the SpectrAlert homs on combina- tion hom/strobes to be silenced on two-wire systems. SpectrAlert's Sync-Circuit Module can be daisy-chained for multiple zone syn- chronization. The module does not operate on a coded power sup- ply. They install easily to standard backboxes and have in-out terminals for wiring convenience. The strobo-bell also in- cludes RF suppression to minimize emissions produced by the contacts. FEATURES • High sound Output. • Low current draw. • DC single-stroke operation(Model 42PT). • DC vibrating operation(Model 46T). • Surface or semiflush mounting. • Screw terminals for easy wiring. • Strobe-bell includes RFI suppression to minimize in- duced noise on the alarm circuit. OPERATION The 46T bells include a WS series strobe. The ben sounds and the strobe flashes when the proper voltage is applied to the input terminals. All bells coupe with either a six-inch or ten-inch dome. APPLICATION Because of their dependability and low power require- t_ ments,42PT bell &46T strobe-bell are suitable for most l - fire alarm applications. They may be used in continuous or single-stroke sounding systems installed in schools,insti- tutions, industrial buildings,or commercial buildings. CONSTRUCTION The bell dome conceals the operating mechanism for pro- tection against tampering. The strobe lens is of durable polycarbonate, translucent white with the word FIRE in bold red lettering. The surface backbox (SB) is made of stamped steel. INSTALLATION There are two installation options available. All installa- tion accessories are finished in matching red enamel. The Main Power Supply The S FP-1024 provides regulated power for operating the fire alarm control panel, operating external devices, and operating the standby battery. The power for operating external devices is limited. Use Table A-2A(standby or non-alarm)and Table A-2B (alarm)to determine if external loading is within the capabilities of the power supply.
