The wetland is the headwaters of a short tributary to Big Bend Creek, and the edge was delineated and marked in the field with pink flagging where it exists/affects the subject property. All associated buffers and set-backs should be measured horizontally, off of the flagged edge in the field. Property Description The parcel is 1.43 acres in size and located in the SW% of the SW% of section 33, Township 22 North, Range 3 West. The main office and existing warehouses of Hood Canal Communications are located on the above named parcel. The wetland borders and extends into the adjacent parcel to the east, where primary and secondary storm-water retention ponds are located. The upland site is characterized by both young and mature Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), sword fern (Polystichum munitum), and salal (Gaultheria shallon). Invasive species that occur on the site include Himalayan blackberry. The wetland site is characterized by red alder (Alnus rubra), Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata), Pacific water parsley (Oenanthe sarmentosa), creeping buttercup (Ranunculus repens), and cat-tail (Typha spp.) 1 ' Project: 2020-WR-204 October 2020 ARMS 13 Lo NO" C - i ® Mrf WFM PRIRIf - - Figure 1:Vicinity map of project Wetland Delineation & Rating The wetland was delineated using the 1987 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual (using updated plant and soil designations from NRCS). The wetland met all three required indicators of hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and hydrology. The hydrophytic vegetation findings were based on the Rapid Test for Hydrophytic Vegetation. The hydrology findings were based on indicator Al (Surface Water). The hydric soils findings were assumed based on combined vegetation and hydrology findings. This wetland was previously delineated and rated in 2010 as a Category II estuarine wetland based on special characteristics using the 2004 Washington State Wetland Rating System. However, we rated the wetland as a category III wetland based on Functions with a total score of 18, and a Habitat Function score of 7 using the 2014 revised Washington State Department of Ecology Wetland Rating System (see appendix A for rating forms). This wetland met the Depressional hydrogeomorphic (HGM) class characteristics and was rated using the Depressional wetland forms for hydrologic and water quality functions, as well as the habitat form used for all HGM classes. 2 Project: 2020-WR-204 October 2020 ARMS The 2010 report on this wetland stated that there was no hydrologic change between the wetland and the Hood Canal. However, we observed a small beaver dam impounding water at the base of the wetland, and 200ft of stream channel to its confluence with Big Bend Creek. The average bank-full width is 2ft, and the average stream gradient is 4%.
