The Mason County Resource Ordinance provides the minimum requirements for vegetated buffers around marine shorelines,
lakes, streams, floodways, wetlands, and steep slopes. Except for the removal of a small percentage of very young trees, native
vegetation may not be harmed or removed within the resource OR within the protected buffers without permits and mitigation
sequencing (avoid, minimize, and mitigate). An exception is provided for trees that meet the following definition:
Danger Tree: A tree with a high probability of falling due to a debilitating disease, a structural defect, a root mass more than
50% exposed, or having been exposed to wind through within the past 10 years,AND where there is a residence or
residential accessory structure within a tree length of the trunk, or where the top of a bluff or steep slope is endangered.A
Geotechnical report may be required.
Property owners: Please fill out the following andquach a site plan showing the location of the proposed danger tree(s) in
relation to property lines and structures. Please submit photos and an arborists report if available.
*If the danger is not apparent to the reviewing County Planner of if the trees are within 50 feet of a Landslide Hazard Area, you
will be required to submit a report prepared by a professional forester or certified arborist (or they will need to complete and
sign this form).

Re: Danger Tree Cutting Request
Owners: Ron and Joanne Quiring, 30 E. Westlake Place,Allyn, WA 98524
Property: 12219-50-00012
We own two combined lots(12 & 13) in Lake Land Village, Division 7. This property is along the channel
portion of Anderson Lake. Two trees are hanging over the water and one tree is diseased. All three
trees were evaluated last week by the Arborist with Evergreen Tree Service. We hope to get them
removed before the inclement weather begins.
We have over 50 trees on this property and do not want to add additional trees.
The Architectural Committee of Lakeland will review this request sometime next week.
Thanks for your assistance.

Dear Mr. Quiring,
I am in receipt of your tree removal application, however, in order to process it, I need an accompanying site plan
depicting tree replacement. Per the adopted resource ordinance, when hazardous trees are removed from the
regulated shoreline, 6 new trees of the same species, no less than 3 yrs old, are required to be planted within the
close proximity of the removed trees. However, in evaluating the property with GIS imaging and given the
existing tree canopy coverage within the shoreline area, we can do a one-for-one replacement in order to establish
a "no net loss" in habitat value and function within the regulated shoreline. Please provide me an
accompanying tree replacement site plan (depicting the location of the 3 replacement trees in relation to
the 3 proposed trees to be removed)at your earliest convenience. Upon receipt, I will be able to process and
approve the tree removal application. Thank you in advance.
