COMPONENT DESCRIPTION cylinder and valve assembly. It also provides a

discharge port of the elbow may be oriented in

The cylinder and valve assembly (Figure 1-1) con-
sists of a cylinder and valve. The cylinder has a WALL
capacity of 25 pounds of sodium bicarbonate dry FIXTURE
chemical (Regular). The cylinder, which complies
with DOT regulations, is pre-pressurized to 360
psig, at 70°F ambient. The aluminum, or brass, 0
valve Part No. 876128, is designed to interface
with a custom made bracket and is provided with 0
a gauge to monitor cylinder pressure.

Manual Reset Relay Box
i Underwriter's Laboratories requirements specify
that, when an automatic gas shutoff valve is used,
it must be manually reset to restore the gas supp-
ly. The relay box is equipped with a reset pushbut-
ton. See Figure 1-19

Electrical Gas Shutoff Valve
The electrical gas shutoff valve is a solenoid
operated gas valve which automatically
shuts off the gas supply when the ex-
tinguishing system Is actuated.
These solenoid operated valves are also O
available in a variety of sizes, with Part
Numbers 249712 through 249716. The basic
electrically operated gas shutoff valve is
shown in Figure 1-18.
These solenoid valves must be used in con-
junction with a manual reset relay box, Part
No. 874853 (Description follows).
IMPORTANT: All sources of energy, used for
heating all cooking appliances, must be shut

Shutoff Components
There are basically two kinds of shutoff com-

Gas shutoffs
There are two types of gas shutoffs. One is
mechanically operated and the other is electrical-
- ly operated.
Mechanical Gas Shutoff Valve
The mechanical gas shutoff valve is cable operated.
