Provide 1/2 " diameter anchor bolts at 24" o/c maximum spacing at the foundation. See plans for locations and sizes of holdowns. 6. MAXIMUM SHEAR = 770 P.L.F. Use 1/2" CDX plywood sheathing - one side of wall . Nail all edges with 10d nails at 2" o/c staggered. For framing at vertical and horizontal edges use 3" nominal or wider HF#2 . Provide 5/8 " diameter anchor bolts at 18 " o/c maximum spacing at the foundation. See plans for locations and sizes of holdowns. 11 . MAXIMUM SHEAR = 300 P.L.F. Use 1/2" G.W.B. - both sides of wall. Nail edges with 5d cooler nails at 4" o/c . Provide 1/2" diameter anchor bolts at 32 " o/c maximum spacing. See plans for locations and sizes of holdowns. CONCRETE EXPANSION ANCHORS AND INSERTS Expansion anchors and inserts shall be ICBU listed and shall have working strength capacity equal to the ultimate capacity divided by 4 , which shall be equal to or greater than the values listed in UBC table no. 26-G for the equivalent size bolts. STRUCTURAL STEEL Shapes and plates shall be A-36 material. Tube steel columns shall be A500 grade B fy=46 ksi . WOOD FRAMING, LUMBER GRADING Allowable stress required shall be in accordance with standard grading rules of West Coast Lumber no. 16 . Moisture content shall be 19% . Load bearing and exterior studs and plates shall be of grade hem-fir #2 or better. Joists and headers shall be of grade hem-fir #2 or better, unless noted otherwise. Plywood sheathing shall be APA grade trademark plywood nominal thickness as shown on drawings. Roof and wall sheathing shall be C-D ( unless noted otherwise ) , interior with exterior glue and shall be nailed with 10d at 6" o.c . along edges and at 10 " o . c . along intermediate framing members , unless noted otherwise. Boundary nailing to be 10d @ 6" o.c . , roof sheathing nailing @ shear wall to be same as shear wall nailing . SHEAR WALLS Shear wall construction shall conform with that specified in shear wall schedules as a minimum. Shear walls parallel with roof trusses or floor joists shall be connected to those members in accordance with the shear wall schedule nailing specifications . Shear walls perpendicular to roof trusses or floor joists shall be blocked between top of wall and roof or floor sheathing ; blocking shall be connected to sheathing and shear wall in accordance with the shear wall schedule nailing specification. Second floor shear walls in central area shall extend vertically to bottom of glu-lam beam or roof sheathing and shall be connected to those members in accordance with the shear wall schedule nailing specifications . SECTIONS AND DETAILS Sections and details showing reinforcing , bolts , framing members , and connections are intended to illustrate specific details . No attempt has been made to show all elements passing through a specific section or detail. REFERENCES Refer to Architectural , Mechanical and Electrical drawings for all dimensions not shown, for size and position of openings, breaks in structural members due to architectural treatment, location of sumps ,and etc . F. - See project manual for required foundation soils preparation. CAST IN PLACE CONCRETE f 'c = 3000 psi . Minimum 5 sacks of cement per cubic yard of concrete for footings, foundation walls , slabs on grade , topping concrete , cast in place walls, and miscellaneous concrete. REINFORCING STEEL Reinforcing steel shall conform to ASTM A-615 Grade 60 (except #3 stirrups may be grade 40 ) , new billet stock , and securely tied with #16 double annealed wire . Reinforcing in beams and slabs shall be supported on well cured concrete blocks or approved metal chairs . Provide support as indicated or recommended BY A.C . I . STD 315 . Reinforcing shall be placed in accordance with "C. R. S. I . Recommended Practice For Placing Reinforcing Bars" . Shop plans shall be submitted in accordance with the project manual for review by architect prior to fabrication. CONCRETE COVER The following minimum concrete cover shall be provided for reinforcement: A. Concrete cast against and permanently exposed to earth: 3" . B. Concrete exposed to earth or weather: 2" for #6 through # 18 bars. 1 1/2" For #5 bars and smaller and W.W. F. C. Concrete not exposed to weather or in contact with ground : Slabs , walls , and joists: 1 1/2" for #14 and #18 bars , 3/4 " for # 11 bars and smaller. 1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS All sheathing edges shall be backed with framing sizes according to shear wall schedule or 2 " nominal blocking . Connections between roof sheathing and wall sheathing or between upper wall sheathing and lower wall sheathing shall be such that required edge nailing per schedule is continuous through blocking and wall plates . All shear walls running parallel to roof or upper floor framing shall be continuous to the roof or upper floor sheathing. Shear walls perpendicular or at an angle to roof or upper floor framing shall be blocked between top of wall and roof sheathing. Space 10d nails at 12 " o/c along intermediate framing members . Lumber grades listed above are minimums . Where holdowns are required on upper floor walls , the holdowns shall be bolted to the upper and lower wall studs and connected by threaded rod as per manufacturer's recommendations . Holdowns shall be attached to double studs unless noted otherwise. Holdown bolt , embedment and configuration shall be per recommendations in Simpson Catalog 88H-1 .
