RE: Studor Air Admittance Vatves
On September 27, 1996,the King County Hearing lrxarniner rendered a decision,allowing
the use of air admittance valves produced and sold by Studor, Inc.
j The Ex$milter's decision gave Studor the right to have their air admittancte vulvca used
under the fallowing conditions:
1, In addition to the restrictions stated within the manufrictucar'S installation
instxuctions,the followivag limitations on the use Of Studor air admittance valves Shall
apply unless delailed plans demon4grating the tmhniral feasibility of applying(ess
stringent limitxtiun,4 have beon propared by a fluensed plumblug contmetor or
professional engineer and subridlted to and approved by the Seattle-King County
Department of Public health:
a. The main drain vent roquire,�d for cacti building shall include a full-sick vent
through the roof,meetinb UPC standards.
b. The two-inch.ytudor Mini-Vent air admittalx;e valve shall be used Only as an
individual fixtae vent,a common vent Jbr two fixtures,or u single bathrnUm
group wat vent.
c. Air adtriittanLe valycs shall not be used a9 Vert( terminals for vent stacks or;stack,
vents.

talk with his client to reiterate the imporu=c o[giv.ing Olis literature to Ids cliculs in
order to eliiuinate any confusion about the standards for use of the product.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE OF
STUDOR AIR ADMITTANCE VALVES
IN SEATTLE AND UNINCORI•'ORATED ICING COUNTY
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE USE OF S'i'UDOR AIR
ADMITTANCE VALVES APPLY IN THE CITY OF SEATTLB AND IN
UNINCORPORATED KING COUNTY;
QF�r,li�: Studor Air Admittance Mini-Valves maybe used with' •'�r � y out prior approval of
the Seattle-King County Department of Public Health if the following conditions am met;
1. Studor Mini-Valves am installed In accordance with the manufacturer's installntion
instructions,and one the COUCIwing installations is used:
;r:•;, a) The:Studor Mini-Valve is used as an individual fixture vent,or
bj The Studor Mini-Naive is used as a common vent for two fix(ures,or '

;'�• c) Thu Studor Mini-Valve is used as a single bathroom group wet vent.
2. 71te main drain vent required for each building shall include a full-size vent thmugh
the roof meeting UPC standards.
