Debbera Coker - Hood Canal School request to change to a type II hood
From: Debbera Coker
To: Mosley, Jess
Subject: Hood Canal School request to change to a type II hood
CC: galcoenggary@comcast.net
Hi Jess,
Craig and I discussed the letter you received from GALCo Engineering requesting to change the kitchen hood from a Type II to a
Type I system. Section 507 of the 2003 International Mechanical Code specifies the need to install Type I or Type II exhaust
hoods. Section 507.2.1 further identifies when a Type I hood is required:
"507.2.1 Type I hoods. Type I hoods shall be in stalled where cooking appliances produce grease or smoke, such as occurs with
griddles, fryers, broilers, ovens, ranges and wok ranges."
Based upon my knowledge of the kitchen the use and proposed appliances require that a Type I hood and suppression system
be installed.
