Hi Larry, here is the Engineering Firm's response with code section you requested.
Respectfully, Brandon
Actually, under IBC code section 1613.1, earthquake load (seismic) is not required for low-haz storage structures
intended only for incidental human occupancy equal to Ag use.The Salt storage cover we have here is similar to
that. See the attached code copy. Please forward to plan checker.

Hello, Brandon,we have never ever been asked to provide seismic
calculation for Block foundation. Earthquake will NOT control design. It
is WIND load controlling design due to super structure above. Could you
please point out this to building department official?****

Hi Larry, here is a STAAD file (to accompany previously provided plans) for the
unoccupied/low haz salt storage structure for WSDOT. Also, here is data on the
fabric FR properties meeting NFPA701 requirements in both UBC and IBC codes. I
am working on getting clarification from the foundation engineer for the seismic
calcs for the foundation. Hope to have that soon. Thanks, Brandon

I am requesting additional information for the membrane structure proposed for Washington State
DOT: The plans submitted did not include structural calc's for the truss system only for the foundation
system. Also the structural calc's for the foundation did not include seismic design information. I
understand wind most likely governs but the seismic analysis is still required.
Information on the membrane material is also required, does it meet NFPA 701 frame propagation
performance treatment under section 2404.2 and labeled per section 2404.3 of the 2009 International

Thank you for any information that can be provided.
