Fire Sprinkler System Plan Review.
I have reviewed the plans and make these written comments. Additional
notations are provided on the plans if required. (See plans)
The adequacy and dependability of the water source are of primary importance
and shall be fully determined, with due allowance for its reliability in the future.
Plans were reviewed with current water information provided.
Due to the limited supply in water pressure, changes in the field will be held to
the minimum and shall be approved by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
before changes are made.
GENERAL NOTES:
1. All underground pipes serving the fire protection system, including fire
hydrants shall be installed by a Washington State Fire Marshal licensed
contractor with a "U" designation. Contractor stamped underground testing
documents shall be provided to the local AHJ before providing water to the
sprinkler system.
2. Insulation shall cover top side of piping.
3. All fire protection equipment and devices utilized in this structure shall be
listed and approved by recognized testing laboratories as noted in the
International Fire Code and Standards.
4. All piping shall be installed to code for drainage requirements. Drains shall be
provided so that they shall handle any water that may be drained from the
sprinkler system. (13D 7.2)
5. Design areas are within acceptable limits with information as provided; system
shall comply with NFPA 13D. ENSURE THAT CALCULATIONS ARE CORRECT.
6. Where a fire department pump connection is not provided, the system shall be
hydrostatically tested for leakage at normal system operating pressure. (13D
4.3)
7. System shall be monitored, as per the requirements of the Local Fire
Department.
8. Sprinkler System shall be maintained yearly as per NFPA 25 and a copy of the
NFPA 25 shall be provided to the owner by the contractor.
9. All control valves shall be provided with tamper switches that shall be wired
into the fire alarm panel or locked out. (13D 7.1) (There is no Control Valve on
the Riser Detail)
10. Sprinkler shall not be obstructed by lighting, or any other obstruction.
Sprinkler head shall be within acceptable code distances to lighting, head
diffusers, and fire alarm devices. (13D 8.2.4)
11. The system design information and all system signage shall be located at the
riser.
12. Space shall be provided around pipe if riser goes through cement floor.
13. Sub-contracting of such work to persons or firms not currently licensed as a
fire protection sprinkler system contractor is prohibited.
14. Spare Sprinkler Heads. A supply of spare sprinklers shall be maintained on
the premises so that any sprinklers that have operated or been damaged in any
way can be promptly replaced. These sprinklers shall correspond to the types
and temperature ratings of the sprinklers in the property. The sprinklers shall be
kept in a cabinet located where the temperature to which they are subjected will
at no time exceed 100OF (380C).
FINAL NOTES/REQUIREMENTS:
CONTROL VALVE: (13D 7.1).
7.1.1 A single control valve arranged to shut off both the domestic system and
the sprinkler system shall be installed unless a separate shutoff valve for the
sprinkler system is installed in accordance with 7.1.2.
7.1.2 The sprinkler system piping shall not have a separate control valve installed
unless supervised by one of the following methods:
(1) Central station, proprietary, or remote station alarm service
(2) Local alarm service that causes the sounding of an audible signal at a
constantly attended location
(3) Valves that are locked open
7.1.3 A separate shutoff valve shall be installed for the domestic water supply in
installations other than those complying with Section 6_3.
HANGARS: Shall comply with submitted manufacturer's instructions and be
verified during field inspection.
LOCATION OF SPRINKLERS: (13D 8.6)
8.6.1 Sprinklers shall be installed in all areas except where omission is permitted
by 8.6.2 through 8.6.6.
8.6.2 Sprinklers shall not be required in bathrooms of 55 ft2(5.1 m2) and less.
8.6.3 Sprinklers shall not be required in clothes closets, linen closets, and
pantries that meet all of the following conditions:
(1) The area of the space does not exceed 24 ft2(2.2 m2).
(2) The least dimension does not exceed 3 ft (0.9 m).
(3) The walls and ceilings are surfaced with noncombustible or limited-
combustible materials as defined in NFPA 220, Standard on Types of Building
Construction.
8.6.4* Sprinklers shall not be required in garages, open attached porches,
carports, and similar structures.
8.6.5 Sprinklers shall not be required in attics, crawl spaces, and other concealed
spaces that are not used or intended for living purposes.
8.6.6 Sprinklers shall not be required in covered unheated projections of the
building at entrances/exits as long as there is another means of egress from the
dwelling unit.
TESTING:'SLPAJ'6.
Your plan submittal for the Lexington Homes — Mondavia Lot 7 has been
reviewed, with the above listed comments, final approval will be given only after
comments have been satisfied to the AHJ, construction of the sprinkler system,
all punch lists have been completed and approved by the AHJ, all system testing
and the final walk-thru sign off inspection.
Plan approval does not relieve the designer/contractor from complying with all
applicable codes and requirements as adopted by local jurisdiction and the State
of Washington, nor does it abrogate the requirements of the requirements of
other authorities having jurisdiction.
1. The AHJ listed above (Craig Haugen) shall be notified (360) 427-9670 at least
one week prior for both the cover inspection and final inspection.
2. Enclosed is a copy of Sprinkler System Installer Certification; this shall be
signed and dated before the final acceptance testing is started.
Additional comments may be made as the project moves forward.

Product Overview
Approved for indoor and outdoor use System Sensor's SSM and SSV series bells are low current, high decibel notifi-
Low current draw cation appliances for use in fire and burglary systems or other signaling appli-
cations.
High dB output
Reliable Performance. The SSM and SSV series provide loud resonant tones.
Three sizes available 6", 8", 10" The SSM series operate on 24VDC and are motor driven, while the SSV
AC and DC models series operate on 120VAC utilizing a vibrating mechanism.
DC models are polarized for use with Simplified installation. For indoor use, the SSM and SSV series mount to a
supervision circuitry standard 4 inch square electrical box. For outdoor applications, weather-
proof back box, model number WBB, is used:
Mount directly to standard 4" square
electrical box The SSM and SSV series come pre-wired, to reduce installation time. The SSM
series incorporate a polarized electrical design for use with, supervision circuitry.
Engineering Specifications
Model shall be a SSM or SSV Series alarm bell. Bells shall have underdome
L ULC O strikers and operating mechanisms. Gongs on said bells shall be no smaller
FM than nominal 6"/8"/10" (specify size) with an operating voltage of 24VDC or
S4011 CS549 30STM 05255 120VAC (specify by part number). Bells shall be suitable for surface or semi-
flush mounting. Outdoor surface mounted installations shall be weatherproof
(using optional WBB weatherproof electrical box). Otherwise bells shall
mount to a standard 4"square electrical box having a maximum projection
NF
