July 26, 2022 TN Miller Remodeling 1670 E Benson Lake Dr Grapeview, WA 98546 RE: Roof Insulation at 2310 E saint Andrews Dr SCh 0 M 4-C NL Olson and Associates prepared engineering for the roof extension and deck extension on the existing house at 2310 Saint Andrews Dr in Shelton. As part of the plan set, it was noted that the existing roof insulation would be improved. The current roof was made of 2x T&G planks with 1"thick rigid insulation on top. That system was approximately R-8 total (3 for the wood planks and 5 for the rigid). As part of this project, the re-roof added (2) layers of 3"thick rigid insulation on top of the 1" layer that existed. The new insulation added R-30 to the existing R-8 for a total of R-38 (the code requirements for a sloped ceiling). Please let me know if there are any questions. One screw per rafter into the ridge beam.Another option we discussed was a 3/a"thru bolt that would be installed horizontal thru the 4x8 rafter and the 6x 12 ridge beam. This is also acceptable.
