PROJECT DESCRIPTION & SIZE: Collective Garden
When an existing structure will be used to operate a Collective Garden in accordance with Mason County Code
17.09 the applicant may use the Change in Tenant application form to obtain a permit. Complete the application
form following all instructions. Include required documents including a floor plan drawn to scale. In addition to
items listed on the form be sure to identify all elements required for a Collective Garden as specified in 17.09.003,
items A through M.
When the permit application is submitted the permit will be routed to all relevant departments to verify compliance
to department regulations. When all departments have approved the permit application the permit will be issued
and required inspections performed. Occupancy approval will be granted after all required inspections are
completed and approved.
If new construction is proposed plans shall be required that demonstrate compliance to Mason County Code
14.17.140. Construction plans shall include design details and information sufficient to identify design
specifications
• OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION & USE: The occupancy classification for the existing building has been
approved assembly or restaurant purposes and as a retail space. To cultivate and deliver medical
cannabis the occupancy classification is considered "F" to cultivate and "B" to dispense. As proposed the
building and fire codes would approve the existing structure for the use provided all elements required in
17.09.003#'s A through M are installed.
• SETBACKS TO PROPERTY LINES: A site plan, drawn to scale, shall clearly identify setback dimensions,
and required fencing on a site plan.
• DISTANCES TO OTHER STRUCTURES: NOT APPLICABLE. Site plan, drawn to scale shall clearly
identify distances, where required include fire-resistive details, including continuity, &tested assembly
details.
• ENGINEERING REQUIRED: May be required when new construction occurs
When required, ALL PLAN PAGES SHALL BE STAMPED AND SIGNED BY THE DESIGN
PROFESSIONAL.
• GEOTECH REPORT REQUIRED? NO
• SPECIAL INSPECTION: REQUIRED. NO
Referencing IBC Chapter 17, Section 1704.1.1. Statement of special inspections prepared by registered
design professional in responsible charge. Complete a Special Inspection authorization form.
• OTHER:
A permit shall be required for a 10-ft fence required in accordance with 17.09.003, #'s F and G.
Construction plans and details may be included with the Change in Tenant permit application.
SEE Fire Marshal notes. A separate fire protection permit shall be required for the fire protection systems
specified in 17.09.003 item# I. Plans and details demonstrating compliance to the 2012 International Fire
Code shall be provided for the NFPA13 (automatic fire sprinkler) and NFPA 72 (monitored fire alarm )
systems.

BE STAMPED BY THE DESIGN PROFESSIONAL IN RESPONSIBLE CHARGE:
• CONSTRUCTION PLANS, drawn to scale. Include floor plan, elevations, cross section, cross section,
construction details, etc.
• MECHANICAL PLAN,
• PLUMBING PLAN AND
• DEFERRED SUBMITTAL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
• A PLAN REVIEW FEE WILL BE COLLECTED WHEN THE BUILDING PERMIT IS SUBMITTED.
VALUATIONS ARE BASED UPON THE MOST RECENT BUILDING STANDARDS VALUATION DATA
RECOMMENDATIONS AND THE PERMIT FEE WILL BE DETERMINED BASED UPON TABLE 1-A OF
THE 1997 UBC.

items listed on the form be sure to identify all elements required for a Collective Garden as specified in 17.09.003,
items A through M.
When the permit application is submitted the permit will be routed to all relevant departments to verify compliance
to department regulations. When all departments have approved the permit application the permit will be issued
and required inspections performed. Occupancy approval will be granted after all required inspections are
completed and approved.
The following information is essential to perform a plan review by the Fire Marshal's office. Proposed construction
plans and documents should include all relevant information listed below. Please note that the Fire Marshal
representative has made every attempt to identify all critical information that will be needed based upon the
information provided in the pre-application documents. Additional information may be necessary when the Fire
Marshal is presented with proposed plans for the project. The information provided below references the current
adopted codes. A complete list is provided at the end of this document.
• OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION & USE : The occupancy classification for the existing building has been
approved assembly or restaurant purposes and as a retail space. To cultivate and deliver medical
cannabis the occupancy classification is considered "F" to cultivate and "B" to deliver. As proposed the
building and fire code would approve the existing structure for the use provided all elements required in
17.09.003#'s A through M are installed.
• CONSTRUCTION TYPE: Referencing IBC, Chapter 6 clearly identify the type of construction. THE
CURRENT STRUCTURE IS TYPE VB CONSTRUCTION TYPE.
• WATER SUPPLY & FIRE HYDRANT: Referencing IFC, Section 508; clearly identify location and type of
water supply if available on the required site plan.
• FIRE FLOW: A copy of the approved method for determining fire flow is enclosed. Please provide a copy
of the completed worksheet with proposed construction documents.
• EMERGENCY VEHICLE ACCESS: Required

• ADDRESSING: Referencing IFC, Section 505 and Mason County Code Chapter 14.28, all new buildings
shall have an approved address. Applications for an approved address can be obtained on the Mason
County website at: www.co.mason,wa.us, Forms and Brochures, Community Development, the address
to the referenced web page is: http://www.co.mason.wa.us/forms✓Community_Dev/index.php. Each
building within the facility shall be distinguished with a separate identification so that emergency personnel
can find the building in the event of an emergency.
• EXITS: Verify that construction plans comply with IBC and IFC Chapter 10. Construction plans must
clearly identify all exits, exit paths, length, signage information, etc.
• AUTOMATIC FIRE ALARM: Referencing MCC 17.09.003 #I, the International Fire Code, and NFPA 72,
provide information demonstrating compliance. Note that automatic fire alarm systems shall require a
separate "Mason County Fire Protection System Permit Application". The application can be obtained by
going to same website and page referenced above.
• SPRINKLER SYSTEM: Referencing MCC 17.09.003 #I, IFC and NFPA 13, provide information
demonstrating compliance. Note that automatic fire sprinkler systems shall require a separate "Mason
County Fire Protection System Permit Application". The application can be obtained by going to same
website and page referenced above.
• FIXED FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM: Referencing IFC, provide information as needed on construction
plans demonstrating compliance. Note that fire suppression systems shall require a separate "Mason
County Fire Protection System Permit Application". The application can be obtained by going to same
website and page referenced above. Standpipe systems, where required, need to be clearly identified on
construction plans.
• KNOX BOX: Referencing MCC 17.09.003#H and IFC access shall be required, typically through use of a
knox box. Provide compliance information with construction documents. Contact the local fire district to
make arrangements for an approved key box, location, etc. The local fire district for your project is Fire
District Number:11 and can be reached as follows: (360) 426-1822
• GAS METERS/TANKS: Referencing The International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and NFPA 58 provide
compliance information as required within the referenced codes.
• STORAGE (TYPE, HEIGHT, ETC.) Referencing IFC, Chapter 19 (Lumber yards and wood working
facilities), Chapter 23 (High-piled combustible storage), Chapter 27 (Hazardous Materials), etc.
o Identify all materials to be stored, including commodity classification (see IFC2303 and Table 2306.2),
and type of plastics when applicable. Include anticipated quantities, loose or baled, anticipated height,
o Identify hazardous materials classified as a physical or health hazard, include MSDS sheets as
specified in IFC Section 2703.4. Referencing Table 2703.1.1(1), identify proposed control areas and
method of protection. Referencing IFC Section 2704, identify spill control and proposed secondary
containment, see also IFC Table 2704.2.2
o Identify method of storage (i.e. racks, shelves, pallets and what storage method is constructed of such
as plastic, wood, metal, etc.) If pallets will be used , identify location of unused pallets and anticipated
quantity
o Identify flammable and combustible liquids, flammable gases, and flammable solids regulated under
IFC Chapters 34, 35 and 36. Include information demonstrating compliance, including proposed
storage, classification of flammable material and/or combustible liquid.
