RE: Mason County Building Permit COM2018-00071, Schafer State Park
Dear Ms. Woolett:
This is to confirm our conversation of this morning regarding condition no. 18 to the above permit.
We agree and accept that the use of West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau Standard 17 is an adequate
substitute for the certification of logs under ASTM D3957 as originally called for in condition 18. .
We will forward to you the concurrence of our structural engineering consultant when it becomes
available.

Condition 18 of permit can be replaced with using the West Coast Lumber Grading
standards. As agreed by the engineer of record (Jeff Klein of PCS Engineering,
Washington State Parks (David Hansen) and Mason County Building Department.
Reports must be provided to the engineer of record for review and approval. The
approval must be onside for inspection and a copy provided to Washington State
Parks_ nd Mason County Building Department.

The 7/16"OSB APA rated sheathing will be sufficient for the shear panel for shearwalls
B, C, and D.
Nailing will need to follow the schedule for each shearwall. Any overpenetrated nails
will need to be renailed.
