This is performed to ensure fire apparatus can reach the building(s) being constructed in the event of an emergency. On April 2nd, such an inspection was performed of the road and driveway serving your property at 101 E. Autumn Lane in Union. The outcome of the inspection revealed that its slope exceeded a 12% grade with readings ranging from 12.6 to 18.6%. As a result of this, section 14.17.100 of the MCC requires that a fire sprinkler system conforming to NFPA-13D will be required to be installed in your residence. Because there are several ways to meet this standard, I have enclosed a copy of our department's Plan Submittal and Inspection Requirements for NFPA-13D Systems to help orient you to them. I would recommend you discuss the options available to you with your plumber and a fire sprinkler contractor (who are allowed by State Law to install them depending on the system selected). You are also welcome to contact me directly with any questions you might have. Please note that while sprinkler plans are accepted as a "deferred submittal", to avoid any construction delays, we encourage you to turn them in as soon as possible. The other requirement I would ask you to have in place as early as possible is to have your address numbers posted in accordance with the County Residential Address Signage standard (also enclosed). While the intent is to allow first responders to locate your property without any delays, it makes sense to install them as soon as possible. If you have any questions pertaining to this letter or the inspection conducted, please feel free to contact me.
