Per the builder the Building Inspector wrote up (3) items during the final inspection. The corrections notices was not available to Hodge Engineering. 1. Structural gable end not sheathed Engineering response — the gable end is to be sheathed. The sheathing provides shear transfer in the short direction to the embedded posts. 2. Sheath truss bottom cords per detail 31D1. Engineering response — The 2x4 rat runs at 10' on center are required. Sheathing the bottom cord is not required. Detail 3/D1 note 4 specifies to sheath the bottom truss cord per plan. Note 4 is in conflict with my engineering on sheet S1 which does not specify sheathing. No sheathing is required on the truss bottom cord. 3. No concrete slab over grade following detail 2. Engineering response — The slab is required to provide lateral restraint at the top per note 2 of detail 2/D1. However, per the builder the concrete embed for the post is 48" and is 12" below grade. I have rerun the post embed engineering (attached) and the as-built construction is adequate. Please contact any questions regarding this project. 4/20/201 Report z John o P. Any schedule or cost impact is the responsibility of the builder or owner. This letter does not allow changes to the approved plans-it addresses the impact of the proposed alternate methods to the engineering only.
