This work was completed approximately 2 years ago,and appears to be intact. A site visit was conducted by Envirotech on August 26, 2021 in order to evaluate the work completed with respect to our original geotechnical report dated February 24, 2011 (PN #1020), and to provide additional recommendations for the project. The earthwork that was completed included cutting into the critical slope on the west end of the property in order to create additional useable land for a proposed 5000 sf to 6000 sf carport. Some of the cut materials were used as compacted fill to level the area for the proposed carport. The fill was tested to be compacted per the requirements in our geotechnical report by Pacific Testing&Inspection. The cut slope has been protected with partial quarry spalls and partial jute matting to stabilize the growth of vegetation. The cut slope was completed within the critical sloping area. From our slope analysis, the cut slope has the propensity to fail just as much as the original, natural slope. Therefore new geological hazards were not created. Building Setbacks For the new carport, we recommend a 10 foot setback from the toe of cut slope, and the top of fill slope. The 10-foot setback from the slope toe may be encroached by constructing an.engineered catchment wall between the structure and slope. The setback from the top of fill slope may be encroached by extending the foundation to a depth recommended by a geotechnical engineer. The steep ascending slope has been re-vegetated over the past 2 years, and should be maintained with vegetation for perpetuity. From a geotechnical position, drainage from the new carport may utilize roof downspouts atop splash blocks or any other means of stormwater management located outside of the setbacks provided above. If project conditions change, such as expected construction or additional earthwork require, then Envirotech should be consulted in order to confirm that development meets the intent of our report. Thank you for the opportunity to work on this project. If you have any questions or need any further assistance, please contact Michael Staten at 360-275-9374.
