MASON COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
OCTOBER 17, 1994
A continued meeting of the Board of Health was called to order at 10:45 a.m. by Chairperson
William O. Hunter, with Board Members Porter and Faughender in attendance.
ATTENDANCE: William O. Hunter, Chairperson

Laura E. Porter, Board Member
Brad Banner, Health Services Director
Steve Kutz, Director of Nursing
MINUTES
Board Member Porter moved that the September 1, 1994,Board of Health meeting minutes
be approved as corrected. Motion seconded by Chairperson Hunter and carried. Vote:
Porter yes, Hunter yes, Faughender abstain.
DEPARTMENTAL FEES
Brad Banner presented the Board with a revised fee schedule for the Environmental Health
Department. The Board agreed that workshops were necessary to resolve certain issues and to
gather information, and requested that the relevant committees be given the proposal to study so
that their recommendations could be heard.
MEETING DATE CHANGED
Board Members Porter/Faughender moved/seconded that the regular Board of Health
meeting scheduled for November 3rd, 1994, be changed to November 17th, 1994, at 9:00
a.m, in the Commissioners Chambers. Motion carried unanimously.
HEALTH OFFICER'S CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT
The Contractual Agreement for the performance of Health Officer duties by Dr. Mark E.
Trucksess was reviewed by the Board. Board Members Porter/Faughender moved/seconded
that the Board of Health recommend to the Board of County Commissioners that they enter
into the contractual agreement with Dr. Trucksess with the understanding that Dr.
Trucksess provide up to 30 hours of service before any additional hourly rate was charged.
Motion carried unanimously.
SOLID WASTE HANDLING & FACILITIES REGULATION
Brad Banner presented proposed changes to the Solid Waste Handling and Facilities Regulation.
Board Member Porter stated that on Page 10 the word "days" had been unintentionally omitted.
She also asked that the word "days" be defined as either calendar or working days. Board
Members Porter/Faughender moved/seconded that a public hearing be set on November
17th, 1994, at 9:00 a.m., in the Commissioners' Chambers to consider public testimony on
the proposed changes to the Solid Waste Handling and Facilities Regulation. Motion
carried unanimously.

ILLNESS INVESTIGATIONS
The Board received reports on an illness outbreak at the McLeod Girl Scout Camp located in the
Belfair area, on October 8th and 9th, 1994, and the illnesses relating to those persons who had
eaten a particular type of Schwann ice-cream in recent days.
MEETING CONTINUED
Board Members Porter/Faughender moved/seconded that this meeting be continued until
October 31st, 1994, at 10:45 a.m., in the Commissioners' Chambers. Motion carried
unanimously.
