AGREEMENT BETWEEN MASON COUNTY AND
THE WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION SERVICE
WHEREAS, Laws of 1963, Chapter 4 (RCW 36.50.010) authorizes Mason County
to enter into agreements with the Washington State University Extension Service
for extension work in agriculture and home economics in Mason County; and,
Mason County (hereinafter named as the "COUNTY") through its Commissioners
and the Washington State University Extension Service (hereinafter named as the
"EXTENSION") through its Director or delegate thereof covenant and agree as
follows:
I. The EXTENSION in addition to activities defined by other contracts or
agreements shall perform the following activities:
A. Assign a County Agriculture/Forestry/Community Development/4-H
Youth Development Agent (hereinafter named as the "AG AGENT") to
MASON COUNTY to work in and for the Mason County residents, such
AG AGENT to be an employee of EXTENSION which shall pay
AGENT'S salary and fringe benefitsyin their entirety.

B. Assign an Area Family Living Agent to Mason County to work 25%
of the FAMILY LIVING AGENT'S time in and for Mason County
residents, such FAMILY LIVING AGENT to be an employee of
EXTENSION which shall pay the FAMILY LIVI AGENT'S salary and
fring�pefits.in their entirety. ,

-Provide in-service education and professional leave for the AG
AGENT and FAMILY LIVING AGENT at no additional cost to the
COUNTY.
D. Provide the expertise of Cooperative Extension State Specialists
and Scientists of Washington State University to support the
AGENTS.
E. Train and utilize volunteers in the COUNTY to service as
extenders of EXTENSION information.
II. The COUNTY agrees to:
A. Pay an annual contribution to EXTENSION toward the salary of
said AGENTS as shall be specified in Appendix A and amended each
year through mutual agreement. Such payments to be made upon
submittal of vouchers subject to approval by the COUNTY.
B. Furnish office facilities, supplies, and/or other operating
expenses for the AGENTS and support staff as adopted in the
County Budget each year.
III. It is understood and agreed, by the parties, that appointment of the
AGENTS shall be made by the EXTENSION subject to approval by the
COUNTY.

IV. This agreement shall become effective January 1, 1989. Either the
COUNTY or EXTENSION can terminate this agreement with or without
cause with three months written notice to the other party.

APPENDIX A
MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
Between
WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY AND COOPERATIVE EXTENSION
and
MASON COUNTY
APPENDIX A
Personal Service Contract
The following individuals will be jointly funded under this Memorandum of
Agreement through a Personal Services Contract for the period January 1, 1989,
through December 31, 1989.
Moreita P. Leslie, $2,200.00 County Portion
Area Extension Family Living Agent
James R. Freed, Chairman,
County Extension Agricultural Agent
9,900.00 County Portion
Mason County is to be billed once per year at the amount of $2,200.00 and
$9,900.00.
