Housing Promosion - Affordable Housing for Low & Moderate IncomeRESOLUTION NO. 51-88 THE MASON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PROMOTE THE AVAILABILITY OF IMPROVED HOUSING STOCK TO INCLUDE DECENT, SAFE AND SANITARY AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOW AND MODERATE INCOME PEOPLE OF MASON COUNTY. WHEREAS, the Housing Community and economic development needs of Mason County are under continual assessment via public testimony, budgetary hearings and policy and program development deliberations, and: WHEREAS, unemployment in Mason County has consistently ranked higher than the national and state averages, and; WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of Mason County currently has 214 families on their waiting list for Section 8 Division HUD housing, and, WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of Mason County is presently taking approximately five new applications for housing per week, and; WHEREAS, the unmet housing needs of low income citizens is obviously an ongoing area of great concern. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mason County Board of Commissioners will take the following actions to address the economic development and housing needs of the Mason County community. 1. Continue to support job creation and retention efforts for the county's base industries as well as diversifications of the county's economy, and; 2. Promote the availability of improved housing stock, including decent, safe, and sanitary and affordable housing for low and moderate income people, that will fulfill the unmet need for housing as outlined by the Mason County Regional Housing Plan, submitted to the Mason County Board of Commissioners on June 28, 1977.
