RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A PETITION FOR THE FORMATION OF A PARKS & RECREATION DISTRICT
IN THE UNION AREA AND SUBMITTING A PROPOSITION TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS AT THE
GENERAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, the County Auditor received O Petition bearing the Valid signatures
of 22% of the registered voters of the Union area petitioning for the formation of
a Parks and Recreation District, as provided under RCW 36.69.020; and
WHEREAS, the Auditor presented said Petition and a Certificate of Sufficiency
as to the signers of the Petition; and
WHEREAS, the Board set a public hearing on the matter for 8:15 p.m. Tuesday,
September 19, 1989, and directed the Clerk of the Board to prepare Notice for
publication; and
WHEREAS, on said date, the hearing was held to discuss the formation of the
District.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that following d review of all the
facts leading up to the formation of a Parks and Recreation District, the Board of
Mason County Commissioners does hereby g0 on Motion unanimously, that the Petition
be granted, and that the proposed District be known as Union Parks and Recreation
District, and the boundaries of said district be as follows;
LEGAL DESCRIPTION
Beginning at the Meander Corner on the South Shore Of Hood Canal, which
Meander Corner is common to Section 30, Township 22 North, Range Z W.W.M. and
Section 25, Township 22 North, Range 3 N.Q.M.;
Thence South along line between Range 2 West and Range 3 West to the
Southeast corner of Section 36, Township 22 North, Range 3 N.W.M.;
Thence West along South line of Sections 36, 35, and 34 in said Township to
Southwest corner of Section 34;
Thence South along East line of Section 4, Township 21 North, Range 3 W.W.M.
to Southeast corner of said Section 4;
Thence Nest along South line of Section 4 and Section 6 to Southwest corner
Of Section 5 in said Township and Range;
Thence South, along East line of Section 7, Township 21 North, Range 3 W.W.M.
to Southeast corner of the Northeast quarter of the Southeast quarter (N[ 1/4 of
SE 1/4) of Section 7, Township 21 North, Range 3 W.N.M,;
Thence West to the Southwest corner of the Northeast quarter of the Southeast
quarter (NE 1/4 of 3E 1/4) Of Section 12, Township 21 North, Range 4 W.N.4,;
Thence South along the East line of the Southwest quarter of the Southeast
quarter (SW 1/4 Of 3[ 1/4) to th8 Southeast corner of the said Southwest qUDrter,
of the Southeast quarter (SW 1/4 of S[ 1/4) of Said Section 12;
Thence Nest, along South line of said Section 12 to the East bank of the
Sk0kOmish River;
Thence Northerly along the East bank of said river to Hood Canal;
Thence Northerly and Easterly along H0Od Canal to the point of U2Qi0DiDg; all
situated in the CVUOtv Of Mason and State of Washington, EXCEPT all land covered
by State forest fire patrol in Mason County, Washington.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Mason County Commissioners call for
the submission of the following proposition to the qualified voters Of the Union
area precincts at the General Election to be held on November 7, 1989 for their
ratification or rejection.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, as prescribed by RCW 36.69.060 that the Union Parks &
Recreation area be divided into five (5) subdivisions as follows:
Alderbrook
Beginning at a point on the center line of Manzanita Drive with it's intersection
of the East line of Section 4, Township 21 North, Range 3 W.W.M.; thence
Southerly, along the East line of said Section 4, to the Southeast corner of said
Section 4; thence Westerly along the Southerly line of Sections 4 and 5, said
Township and Range, to a point of intersection with the center line of McReavy
Road; thence Northerly, along the center line of McReavy Road, to a point of
intersection with the center line of Manzanita Drive; thence Easterly, along the
center line of Manzanita Drive, to the point of beginning, EXCEPT all land covered
by State forest fire patrol in Mason County, Washington.
Union West
Beginning at a point on the South line of Section 5, Township 21, Range 3 W.W.M.,
with its intersection with the center line of McReavy Road; thence Westerly, along
the South line of said Section 5, to the Southwest corner of said Section 5;
thence South, along the East line of Section 7, said Township and Range, to the
Southeast corner of the Northeast quarter of the Southeast quarter (NE1/4 of
SE1/4) of said Section 7; thence West to the Southwest corner of the Northeast
quarter of the Southeast quarter (NE1/4 of SE1/4) of Section 12, Township 21,
Range 4 W.W.M.; thence South along the East line of the Southwest quarter of the
Southeast quarter (SW1/4 of SE1/4) to the Southeast corner of said Southwest
quarter of the Southeast quarter of said Section 12; thence West, along the South
line of said Section 12, to a point of intersection with the Easterly right-of-way
line of State Highway SR 106; thence Northerly and Easterly, along the Easterly
and Southerly line of said SR 106, to a point of intersection with the center line
of McReavy Road; thence Southerly, along the center line of McReavy Road to the
point of beginning, EXCEPT all land covered by State forest fire patrol in Mason
County, Washington.
Union East
Beginning at a point of the Southerly right-of-way line of State Highway SR 106,
at its intersection with the West line of Section 34, Township 22, North, Range 3
W.W.M.; thence South along said West line of Section 34, and the West line of
Section 3, Township 21 North, Range 3 W.W.M. to its intersection with the center
line of Manzanita Drive; thence Westerly along said center line to the center line
of McReavy Road; thence Northerly along said center line of McReavy Road, to the
Southerly right-of-way line of State Highway SR 106; thence Easterly along said
right-of-way line to the point of beginning, EXCEPT all land covered by State
forest fire patrol in Mason County, Washington.
Waterfront West
Beginning at a point on the Easterly right-of-way line of State Highway SR 106
with its intersection with the South line of Section 12, Township 21 North, Range
4 W.W.M. thence West, along the South line of said Section 12, to the East bank of
the Skokomish River; thence Northerly along said East bank to Hood Canal; thence
Northerly and Easterly along Hood Canal to the West line of Section 34, Township
22 North, Range 3 W.W.M.; thence Southerly along the West line of said Section 34,
to the Southerly right-of-way line of said SR 106; thence Westerly and Southerly
along the Southerly and Easterly right-of-way line of said SR 106 to the point of
beginning, EXCEPT all land covered by State forest fire patrol in Mason County,
Washington.
Waterfront East
