We would like to express our support for the Mason County Department of Health Services and
Mason County Drug Abuse Prevention, collaborating in their efforts to increase awareness of the
importance of decreasing tobacco use in Mason Country.
As the Board of Health, we realize the problems associated with the use of tobacco products and
we strongly support any effort to decease the use of cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, especially
among the youth in our community. We feel increasing the public's awareness about how the
tobacco industry uses the media to sell its products is essential. We are pleased to know that
when our county is awarded this grant that an effort will be made to educate the citizens on the
tobacco industry's use of media. We also support the effort of promoting more bars and
restaurants to become smoke free in Mason County.
It is our hope that the Department of Health will also see the positive benefits that the proposed
projects could have on increasing media awareness and in decreasing the use of tobacco
products.
Sincerely,
Mason County Board of Health
