We are currently in an epidemic of Influenza A Sidney, which was included in the vaccine. The
vaccine is 80 to 90% effective. Some people will get sick from influenza even though they have
had the vaccine, only their case is less severe. There are also 2 new drugs to treat Influenza A.
One is an inhaled form of drug, called Relenza. Should be started two days within the time of
getting the illness. Usually the flu virus peaks in February or March and those who want to get
the shoots can still do so, even though it takes 2 weeks before it begins to work.
